RE: NIU vs. CMU Game Thread
Akron put a lot of pressure on NW and NW cracked. The zips seem to have a lot of skill; at QB, at DB and LB, an exciting team to watch, quite the change from the local MAC team's offense.

But the QB isn't average....

Seems like we are missing quite a few people who normally post during football season. Is it the board or the team or both?

For me it is 100% the board. The continuous redundancy makes it a waste of time. Through their shear volume of posts and the apparent insistence of some to dominate the discussion, it just isn’t worth participating.

Your question is a good one, as I have also noted that many posters have quit posting. I still check the board daily for anything in new information, however, very seldom do I find anything other than.....”Carey Sucks” and “Fire Carey and Frazier”. Hardly opinions that require much thoughtful discourse, or, need repeating multiple times on a daily basis, so I have chosen to pretty much stop posting.

If you follow consistently, two or three individuals are making an incrediblely high % of the posts. I enjoy the board as a source of information and a means to conversationally discuss NIU athletics. Currently, I find the general tone to be much too confrontational and pretty much lacking in any meaningful conversation.

The useful life of any new thread is extremely short, as it will quickly be high jacked to fit the narrative of the same couple of individuals.....over and over again. The board used to have a broad base of, I don’t know, maybe 25-50 individuals. As I said earlier, now it is pretty much dominated by 2-3 people (and I am sure we can all recite their opinions).

I am sure many will disagree and I will get ripped, but, you asked and I would like to see the board successfully continue, however, I find it currently to be pretty much pointless.

NIU vs. CMU Game Thread

I know the D has been good and Sutton Smith is fantastic.......but man...do I miss the days of an actual offense. So many things wrong with NIU right now with enrollment and crappy Glidden North. Didn't think nostalgia days would happen only 8.5 years after leaving NIU. Generally you hope for your college to get better....not worse.

Yes, in the old days, you expected a win because you knew we had an offense and a coach who kept us in the game. Today, you expect a loss because there is no offense and we have a coach who helps us lose.

This has disappointed me because people are treating one kid like he is a paid professional athlete. I've never seen one kid take so much abuse. These are kids that dont deserve the NFL professional QB treatment of abusive fans. We should be better than that

At least CMU was finally beaten. A win is a win. But not the offensive explosion I anticipated seeing. I am onboard with MD this must be the coaching/culture with the offense. Cannot pin this on any 1 player. Yes call me crazy with a K as somebody said.

Block whoever needs to be blocked and see if you enjoy the board more. Can’t hurt trying something new.

Anyone record the stream? I know my 2yo daughter got face time on the scoreboard after either the first or second NIU TD. not sure if it made the stream or not. If so I want to get a copy.

You have missed the entire point. The question that I responded to related specifically as to why so many people have disappeared from the board. We have lost a large number of posters who added thoughtful and civil narrative to the discussion. Blocking individuals will NOT bring back those posters who have left the board, and there are many.

This board used to be great with many wise and informative posters. Its too bad 2-3 people ruin it for everyone and no one wants to come back.

Makes you wonder what the hell the coaches see in practice. Lazz looked good running and throwing... Guess at least they moved him all the way up to No. 2 on the depth chart.

I think it's quite simple. In practice the QB knows he isn't going to get hit. So you don't find out who can play under pressure. They also don't tackle the QB in practice so you don't find out who can make a play with his feet. Thus, stupid decisions in picking a QB.

Almost?! It actually took him 2 games and nearly 3 quarters to see it. Once we had 3 possessions within your 35 and came away with 3 points it should have been clear. I thought Childers looked okay, especially once your RBs started gashing us. Then again, I've been watching our QB play for the last 3 games so ...

I think NIU losing has driven people away. Everyone likes a winner, sad statement of the state of NIU fair weather fandom.
