The gap is definitely widening this year and CUSA may cause people to rethink the concept of a G5.

What galls me more is the moron we had in charge and his sandwich board comments. That and his acolyte support on parliament and also the zealot support for the unprecedented success clown show.

This was an entirely predictable and preventable situation. Too bad we had our heads too buried in the sand (or worse) to see and act on this.

None of this is surprising. Other than the fact that Rice keeps managing to be surprised by the outcomes of their fairly obvious decisions.

(Edit: this is not directed at you flash...)

We did it to ourselves. Nobody is to blame but us.

The good news is that would suggest that we could still fix it. But it takes a greater commitment than we have showed over the last 50 years.

+1 and more than zeros than I have patience to type. Seeing Trevor Cobb last weekend reminds me of how we had almost turned the corner then did nothing. It has also been 15 years since the CWS victory....Lack of effort and excuses gets what you deserve-nothing....

FSU gets a go-ahead TD, 2pt conversion, and then a pick-6 to make the final margin 10. Looking at FSU and aTm results so far, one might conclude that Jimbo Fisher is a good football coach.

Or he won a national title with Bowden’s players and a heisman winner then bounced before it was noticeable he ran the program into the ground. FSU was 5-6 last year when he bailed in a conference they should always win 9 games in. Don’t forget all the arrests and scandals either...

Just for returned from a convincing home win for #10 Stanford over #17 USC 17 - 3. However, under Coach Shaw, Stanford runs the most conservative and frustratingly predictable offense making Bloomgren's intellectual brutality running game seem like the run and gun in comparison. It's a wonder Bryce Love gets any yardage the way the opposing team stacks the box with 9 players...and on first and second down Shaw runs Love up the gut into a blockade. Strange because Stanford has an explosive passing game with a 6'5" wideout and another 6'5" TE that can catch anything thrown to them, but it's only used on 3rd and long. Love ended up with something like 110 - 120 yards, but most of it came on runs of 60 yards and 39 yards. He was something like 15 for 20 yards on his other carries, with at least 5 tackles for loss.

I thought Stanford’s Oline looked worse than last year. Not many holes for Love.

It's hard to create holes when it's 9 in the block against 5 offensive linemen, and you run up the middle. I swear USC looked like they were playing a goal line defense on 4th and inches, yet Shaw continued to try to penetrate it. I feel for Love. And Stanford lost one of their 5-star lineman to an ACL tear in the 2Q. Had STanford passed more, especially one 1st and 2nd down with play action, they would have scored 50 points on SC. Their receivers were wide open all game long.

And that's the other side of the coin. I said might.

I think the jury is still out. This will be a good test. I think part of the reason he came to aTm was thinking he could recruit better in Texas. And as far as all the scandals, Bobby ran a pretty loose ship, and I think some of that was baked into the cake there.

Colorado State beat Arkansas in Fort Collins - more indication that if you look through comparative scores of 2018, we're probably better than most people expected.

Yes Navy beat Memphis. CSU beat Arkansas. UH beat Arizona badly. PV lost to SHS but it was close.

RE: Other games - Week 2
Yesterday's results for the remaining teams on our schedule:

USM (Sept. 22) fell to UL-Monroe, 21-20. The Eagles lost two picks and two fumbles.

After squeaking by with a Week 1 overtime win over Tulane, Wake Forest (Sept. 29) beat up on Towson State, 51-20. But their coach is concerned that they've given up 300 yards passing in each game so far. The Deacons' freshman QB had two turnovers (tipped-pass pick and fumble at the Towson 2), but Greg Dortch ran for nearly 300 all-purpose yards, including two punt-return TDs. Before facing us, W-F has home games against Boston College (Thursday on ESPN) and Notre Dame.

UTSA (Oct. 6) improved markedly from its opening-game disaster in the desert, playing Baylor tough for most of yesterday's game before losing, 37-20.

UAB (Oct 13) was trounced at Coastal Carolina, 47-24. The Blazers gave up 27 second-half points, while being held scoreless.

FIU (Oct. 20) beat ODU (Nov. 24), 28-20, in Norfolk.

North Texas (Oct. 27) crushed Incarnate Word, 58-16.

UTEP (Nov. 3) fell behind UNLV early (38-10 at the half) and lost, 52-24.

LaTech (Nov. 10) routed Southern, 54-17.

LSU (Nov. 17) was "wildly inconsistent" as it cruised past Southeastern Louisiana, 31-0.

Also in C-USA: WKU lost to Maine, 31-28, despite being up 21-0 in 1Q and its QB throwing for 347 yards.

He got up, albeit gingerly, so that's somewhat encouraging. On the next play, Texans OL Henderson got rolled on and is now down.

Ick.
