1. We're not part of the decision? Then everything on this forum means absolutely nothing.
2. Playing UK on the road counts? Basically every MAC school plays at least one P5 on the road a year but is lucky to get one or two at home per decade.

I remember Western Michigan would do this a lot too.

Lately we've been setting up home-and-home's with SunBelt/CUSA/AAC teams which has been helping get 2 home games OOC.

But yah, I don't fault Eastern for doing this. Western had a home game set up with Illinois in 2016 but in 2015 rechecked it for at Illinois. My guess is Western too wanted the money.

It's pretty rare for MAC and other G5 teams individually to host a P5 school, money being the issue (and not just P5 schools refusing to leave their stadiums although that is an issue too)

Eh, I think the question would be to ask CUSA and the Sunbelt how often they get to host the SEC; the question to ask the MW how often do they get to host the PAC12, and the MAC host the Big 10?

SEC schools don't usually play at our stadiums - and our teams even on their campuses - because we get the Big 10.

Dear Love and Honor,
You are not part of the decision. You may be a part of the discussion, but that's it.

If I remember correctly, you're talking about the 2-for-1 deal we had with Wisconsin. They were supposed to play us in DeKalb and instead they paid us more to play at Wisconsin. Then we proceeded to schedule a 4-for-none deal with Nebraska. A whole lot of poor negotiationing going around then.

Toledo has had six plus Boise in the last decade (counting the OSU in Cleveland “home” game). Not bad. Iowa State, Miami (this year), OSU, Arizona, Mizzou and Colorado. Some were pretty certain Miami would buy out this year’s game but it is on.

In other words, I guess it could be worse. Still, what a bummer for Eastern Michigan fans.

Wake Forest did this with Florida State back in the 90s. FSU played the game somewhere on the east coast of Florida (not sure if it was in Jacksonville or Miami).

That's exactly the game I was thinking of. Thank you.

I supposed if we are counting up P5 home games: Bowling Green had Maryland coming this year and we had Indiana in town a couple years ago. None scheduled after this season, at least so far.

Eastern should have moved the home game to Cincinnati. they would have drawn a huge crowd and made more money.

Where? Paul brown? Lol Toledo vs UC looked empty and almost 50k was there. And do you think it's cheap to rent out an NFL Stadium?

EMU travels 300 to Toledo, why would they travel 20k to Cincy??? Kentucky would have a better crowd at home too. This would be miserable.

I believe the thinking here is that Kentucky fans would make the trip to Paul Brown Stadium. That makes some sense to me.

Wtf? No, he's not. Where did you hear this lie? Or did you just come up with it yourself?

He's literally said there will be no more athletic department cuts, said that football won't be going anywhere, and the Board of Regents put out a statement saying we will remain FBS in perpetuity.

What an outrageous lie to spew on this board...

Yeah, great, but where is perpetuity and how big is their stadium?

Northwestern also sold a home game with Ohio St to Cleveland (early 90s?).

RE: EMU sells out (surprise, surprise)
I don't think Eastern is doing what's in their best interest. Sure, the people at the top get a nice pay day because of this...but a signature home game against the SEC could have rejuvenated the fan base in the long run, which is the most criticized aspect of EMU. Playing Kentucky on the road versus hosting them in your own stadium are two very different things. Plus, what better way to celebrate the renovation of EMU's new football complex and scoreboard than commemorating it vs. an SEC team at home?

EMU did a very EMU thing and I just wish they would do something a little different to help make the MAC a better league. But yeah, have fun hosting the likes of Monmouth, Central Connecticut, Coastal Carolina, Saint Francis, Texas St., Eastern Kentucky, UMass, and Liberty (all their OOC home games the next 7 years).

Dear inductchuck16,
Check any other team in the MAC and they have the same kind of home schedule as Eastern in the next few years. Some may be a bit better, but most are right there with Eastern. As I said earlier, Eastern is doing what they feel is best for them.

1 million dollars is 1 million dollars. Sucks for EMU fans but money is more important at this stage in their rebuild. Or just, "build."

That doesn't seem like a lot of money to me.

It isn’t a lot. This must be the year that Pepsi doesn’t buy 15,000 tickets to keep EMU attendance inflated and couldn’t afford the $200k.

Maybe the fundraising for the facilities improvements is below expectations - in that case I can get this a little more.

Dear MWC Tex,
Teams in the Mid-American Conference generally receive one million, to one and a half million for playing at a P5 school. So, if a million dollars isn't very much, I would like to see who gets more when playing in those games. And, I don't see teams turning down a million dollars to play in those games.
