I have to go along with ColinApocalypse in regards to Eastern. If, they end up last in the West I will be surprised. Whom ever picked the line-up for the West is not in touch with reality, in my opinion. Not predicting a championship for Eastern, but I think they have made strides the last two years to be competitive and not be a last place team.

Agreed. Eastern isn't the basement dweller anymore. Creighton has turned them into a solid program. I think the Eagles will at least finish above Ball State and Central.
These predictions are joke. Too much favoritism for the East, which has been the lesser of divisions in recent years.

EMU in last. Ok, go ahead and think that. Most of the defense returns (one of the top D's in the MAC) and the entire OL has starting experience. And the entire heard of 5 RBs return too. Yeah, go ahead and pick them last. A little extra motivation will be just fine in Ypsi.

A top MAC Defense?

EMU 2017 MAC FB games only:
#7 Scoring Defense
#8 Total Defense
#6 Rushing Defense
#10 Pass Efficiency Defense

New KSU coach Lewis has said that players, coaches and staff have signed a contract to let their beards grow between now and the bowl game.

Here's a sneak preview if what that may look like:

If, you don't want reaction, discussion, rebuttal, etc., then don't post. It's also interesting with those that are picked on top, or near the top, always think these predictions are just fine. Give me a break with your attitude of nothing to get excited about.

Look Ken, we get it. EMU has a historically atrocious program and routinely are picked near the bottom, as they should be.

For the record, CMU is predicted near the bottom. Last year, I believe we were picked 5th and we finished the regular season 8-4, 2nd in the West.

Get over it, they are predictions.

But dude, they were the best 5-7 team in the country! They almost beat (insert every loss)!

And did not beat a single team with a winning record. Have to say the 2016
season was really more impressive with the Wyoming, OU, and CMU wins.
Plus playing a decent ODU close in the Bowl.

Dear george14,
You want to compare winning records from last year. Central had eight wins. Six came from beating schools with losing or .500 records. Yes sir something to crow about.

The same goes for you. Seven of your wins came against schools with losing or.500 records.

True, but one of those wins came over your beloved Eagles, who were the best 5-7 team in the country. So that should count as an extra win, Ken.

At the end of the day, my point was to stop caring so much about preseason polls. EMU has a ton of unknowns on offense and could surprise people. Same goes for CMU. I am not concerned with where we are projected to finish because there are a lot of variables we won't know until the season gets underway.

Well we played 10 win Ohio, 10 win Miami(FL) and 10 win App as our losses... Defeated the East Champion twice, 8 win NIU, 6 win WMU, and 8 win CMU.

We can only play who is in the MAC and we didn't avoid anyone worth a damn but UB...

OOC Toledo scheduled Tulsa who had been good until last season and BG is a permanent crossover who since 2000 has the 3rd most MAC wins behind NIU and UT.

I agreed with you until the come back against Toledo. They are not the team you want to schedule battle on a yearly basis.

EMU has only about 6 wins over FBS teams with .500+ records in the last 10 years

That has a lot to do with it. The best indicator of the future is the past. EMU has been a very poor team in recent memory too. There are still players from the 2-10 and 1-11 teams. It's not like EMU football has some huge resurgence dude. You guys went 7-6 in 2016 and that is the only winning season in over 20 years. Claim all you want about how "we should have been better last year". All that a close loss shows is the teams inability to finish.

And Toledo fans are well aware of it because of the Rockets' MACC drought from 2005 thru 2016.

RE: MAC Football Predictions 2018
Dear george14,
That indicates nothing. You and Boca Rocket don't like Eastern. That's your prerogative, just like I dislike your school. And your school has been the best example of what a winning program has been in the last ten years or so? I haven't claimed that Eastern should have been better in this discussion. If, you remember, this all started about where teams were picked for the coming season. You, in your wisdom said people shouldn't get all up tight about it, but I said people have the right to rebut, discuss, etc., and then you went into how Eastern is crappy, and they claim this and that, and haven't beaten whomever.
You just can't stop complaining about Eastern. Face it.

I don't really care about EMU. I have enjoyed campus when I've been there though. Simply addressed the statement that EMU's Defense was one of MAC's best last season, when stats show they were not. So if you are making the assumption that EMU will be a contender based on returning a Defense that was bottom half of a weak MAC in 2017, you are likely wrong.

WMU players that went 1-11 in 2013 went on to go 13-1 in 2016.

First of all PJ dumped the 1-11 season. That was not 1-11 talent.
It was followed by two solid 8-5 seasons, Bowl appearances, etc.
Solid foundation over two season with a good track record. 13-1 didn't just appear overnight. You've got to crawl before you can walk.

Ken is correct. We are literally on a thread to discuss pre-season projections; if you don't like discussing pre-season projections then a solid option is to not participate in the discussion.

One of my best buddies played for EMU and was a great OLman. I definitely don't like you though. EMU has not been relevant in quite some time. My point was people getting defensive about their placement in the polls. It's not a big deal. It's not like Ball State won the MAC and returned everyone, then were picked last or something. Everything seems pretty fair and once again, it's a flippin preseason poll.

If you recall (I know you are getting up there in age so it's forgiven) you are the one who directly responded to something I said. I wasn't even talking to you. I said "I don't understand why people get so defensive", I never called you out directly.
