South Bend, Ind. - The SMU women's soccer team posted a strong victory Sunday with a 2-1 win over Stanford at the Notre Dame Classic in South Bend, Ind. With the win, SMU improves to 2-1-1 while the Cardinal fall to 1-2 on the season.

SMU got on the scoreboard first when senior Jill Heinemann posted an unassisted goal for the Mustangs at the 15:12 mark. SMU increased its lead to 2-0 when freshman Krystal Bailey finished a cross in the box from Heinemann at the 23:28 mark. The Mustangs held the 2-0 lead until very late in the contest as Hedi Herrick scored Stanford's lone goal at the 88:21 mark.

SMU goalkeeper Amanda Clark made six tough saves for SMU. The Mustangs placed two players on the Notre Dame adidas Classic All-Tournament team. They are freshman defender Kimber Bailey and freshman forward Krystal Bailey.

The Mustangs return home to face Sam Houston State (1-2) Friday night. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Westcott Field.
