I was going to make a snarky comment, but my understanding is that soccer will move to campus very soon compared to BB and SB which could be well into the future. Hate to see track lose its infield are for field events.

It actually makes more sense to have field events outside of the infield for safety reasons. I actually remember during a Rocket Relay back in 2003 when I was in high school where a kid was speared by a shard of a pole that shattered during an attempt at the pole vault pit.

To my knowledge, that plan is to have soccer back on campus by Fall 2020.

The area doesn't fulfill NCAA dimension requirements for soccer with the long jump/PV pits and the approach for javelin. They will need to move those to Carter Field before they can resurface the field itself unfortunately. From every conversation I've had in the past few years, they would be over in a heartbeat if they could be.

The Michigan State article got the second and third MSU goals wrong. Both of those goals were own goals, not goals scored by the MSU player. The first was a cross that was not a shot on goal. The UT defender was the only player there, and she headed it into the net. On the other goal, the UT goalie made a nice save on a breakaway. The ball was then traveling away from the net, and a UT defender ran into the ball and not it back into the goal. UT was badly outplayed. I'm hoping that MSU has a good team and that we'll look better against MAC competition.

One does not simply move the javelin approach to accommodate other sports. One moves other sports to accommodate the javelin approach, perhaps, but the javelin approach is sacred.

Looks like Hannah Scafaria is fully recovered from her injury in the MAC championship game last season (broken leg, as I recall?) as she has opened the scoring for UT.

UT 1-0 late in the 1st.

Also saw that Freshman Lexa Bauer from Notre Dame was in the starting lineup. She was very highly regarded in HS, so will be interesting to see her play as a true freshman.

Xavier scores 2 in the 2nd, and the Rockets lose 2-1.

Xavier outshot UT 20-8. Not a good start to the season.
