I think America would celebrate much the same way if we ever won the World Cup. Large celebrations just get out of hand quickly. But thankfully I doubt we ever win the World Cup in any of our lifetimes.

That said, France can't be proud of what they did to celebrate. One of my nieces is there on vacation and she was pretty scared last night.

It would probably require all three major sports (Baseball, Football, and Basketball) popularity to completely collapse in this country for our best athletes to ever consider Soccer as a career. American Exceptionalism on full display in our sports.

As an Aussie acquaintance said to me in Sydney in 2003 before the Rugby World Cup final, "You Americans are world champions of every sport that nobody but you play."
