I doubt anyone around here is in Walkers inner circle so I doubt anyone around here can really say that. I wouldn't be surprised if Vol fans are posting they're OK n the lead for Walker and I doubt they really know either. Just my opinion.

Chandler is a good player. But Penny is not actively recruiting him. Both can be true.

Walker now has the offers flooding in. Multiple each of the last few days.

Walkers ranking jumped 56 spots in the new Rivals top 150.

I like the Rivals guys, think they are the best ranking service. They go scout, then debate, and aren't afraid to move guys way up or way down.

DJ up 8 to 45. Feels like piling on at this point, but Chandler continues to drop, down 13 to 86.

CJ's mentor Marcus Robinson was just on the Gary Parrish show. He said they are highly, highly considering Memphis, love the NBA veteran staff, and he was enamored when Penny Hardaway called him last week because Penny was such an Orlando icon while he was coming out of HS. He couldn't believe "Penny Hardaway is calling me?!" He said he had to educate CJ on who Penny was, showing him YouTube highlights, etc. "Man, Penny can play!" was CJ's response to the videos, haha.

At the Peach Jam in a huddle, CJ was excitedly distracted saying "coach, Penny is here!" and Marcus had to focus him on the game. According to Parrish there were at least 75 other coaches there as well, including Cal and Coach K. Marcus mentioned specifically off the top of his head, Georgetown, Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Auburn showing a lot of interest in CJ after the Peach Jam that wasn't there previously and they are "back to the drawing board" after the influx of interest since the Peach Jam.

Marcus also mentioned CJ previously played with Antwann Jones on the AAU circuit, and that is a consideration. He said even though Penny is removed from Orlando by nearly 20 years, CJ constantly hears how much of an icon Penny was for Orlando by the more mature basketball fans in the area. Cited an example of being in a barber shop and the barber shop talk turned into "boy, you remind me of Penny."

Parrish thinks CJ will be at least a Top 25 or Top 30 recruit after recruiting rankings are updated since the Peach Jam.

Keelon Lawson hasn't been in touch with the Memphis staff in months, and at this time Memphis has showed no interest in recruiting Chandler. Both Calkins and Parrish mentioned they've heard there has been some pre-existing distance/tension between Penny and Keelon. Didn't give details, just surmised Penny has his own personal reasons with Keelon for not recruiting the Lawsons that are completely independent of what transpired between the Administration, the previous staff, and Keelon.

This is pure speculation on my part and could be 100% inaccurate, but just putting together some comments here and there...

They both mentioned they both thought Keelon had some false assumptions upon Penny's hiring.

I got the impression Keelon was surprised Penny told the Lawsons to kiss his ass, he wasn't interested. Hasn't spoken with them since he was hired. That was the end of that.

Personally, I'd be really surprised if CJ Walker goes anywhere other than Memphis.
