Time for the real international competition to begin
Tired of watching guys writhe in “pain” from the tiniest of contact? Tomorrow begins the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship. 46 countries battling for the title of the creators game. The first day is highlighted by USA vs Iroquois Nationals. 1:30pm EST ESPN2. The Iroquois attack features the Thompson brothers,
UAlbany’s Sophomore mountain, 235# Tahoka Nanticoke & former Wolverine Kyle Jackson.

Would rather watch lacrosse than soccer. The Chips massacred the British inhabitants
of Fort Michilimackinac after challenging British soldiers to a game oif lacrosse (baaga'adowe) and rushing through open Fort gates during Pontiac's War-1763. Just shows you could be putting your life on the line playing lacrosse.

For the Thompson’s it’s much more than a game. Every once in a while ESPN still puts together something worth watching. This is a great piece on the Creators game. It speaks to the importance of the game to their society and it’s deeper meaning, the opportunities it gives them for a higher education, the racism
and intolerance still present against the indigenous people. If you’ve got 7 minutes today it’s time well spent.

There’s also a movie, Crooked Arrows, about a high school team from the reservation trying to compete with the better equipped, elite prep teams for a state championship.

I am watching the Rugby 7's on CNBC, both men and women. Pretty exciting stuff!

I really like rugby 7s. Fast paced and quick matches. I could get into watching rugby much more easily than Soccer. But i’ll still watch some soccer every 4 years. Enough to remind myself how stupid it is to see guys roll around in pain when their shins get knicked.

Both lacrosse and rugby are excellent sports. Rugby is BRUTAL and excellent. Rugby seven games take about 15 minutes. I still like soccer though, and wish USA would get it's act together, as we should be far more competitive than we are.
