But. Based on your signature.... You have my support. Not happy about it mind you.

The Bundeswehr is due to take over leadership of NATO's multinational Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) at the start of next year, but doesn't have enough tanks, the Defense Ministry document said.

Specifically, the Bundeswehr's ninth tank brigade in Münster only has nine operational Leopard 2 tanks — even though it promised to have 44 ready for the VJTF — and only three of the promised 14 Marder armored infantry vehicles.

The paper also revealed the reason for this shortfall: a lack of spare parts and the high cost and time needed to maintain the vehicles. It added that it was also lacking night-vision equipment, automatic grenade launchers, winter clothing and body armor.

20% of the needed tanks and 21% of the needed AIV's

A cruise ship already made the trip. So it's probably more of a money issue than a time issue for me.

Regardless if the Northwest Passage opens up as an viable shipping route or not, shouldn't Canada at least be prepared for it? I'd like to see them commission a few new icebreakers in the meantime.

We have never had a President embarrass NATO the way a Trump did today. You iron out differences behind closed doors. He’s actively trying to curry favor with Putin.

That's a strange take on this but I can't say it's a surprising one.

You're not new here so you know you'll see 100% more disagreements among the conservative posters around here than you will among the liberal posters.

I honestly can't remember reading a post in the past few weeks that spoke badly of Trump other than from the resident liberals.

Ibid to Stanley.... but the truth is (as has been lamented by a number of us for months/years now and has even become somewhat mainstream) is that the vitriol and frequency at which the left posts 'outrage' at every breath Trump takes has actually turned lots of centrists and even people who didn't vote for him (like me) to defend him from baseless and banal accusations, bordering at times on lunacy... like this thread.

Using this thread as a simple example, I really hate how gruff and abrasive Trump acts towards our allies... It's unpresidential... something I've said since long before the election... but that doesn't mean that I disagree with him that Europe getting 'free' protection from us (humorously measured here as a percentage of GPD) while contributing positively to the GDP of Russia is a problem.

We could reduce our spending as a percentage of GPD if they bought energy from us instead. That's a bit of a joke, but mathematically true.

I also don't like how he tweets and again, his manner... but all I find myself doing is saying... well, what he said was wrong/bad, but it wasn't remotely what YOU claim it was to people like those who started this thread. Heck, a good portion of the right doesn't like Trump because he's not far enough right. He favors single payer!

There is a whole lot by weight to hate about Trump, but by volume it pales in comparison to the left's protests.

Maybe if the left would shut up about trivial crap, we could join them in complaining about REAL problems?

We have never had a President embarrass NATO the way a Trump did today. You iron out differences behind closed doors. He’s actively trying to curry favor with Putin.

The Cold War ended around 1990. There are two possibilities:

1) The GHWB, Clinton, GWB, and Obama administrations did not spend 25+ years trying to iron out these differences behind closed doors.
2) These differences cannot be ironed out behind closed doors.

Take your pick.

My best guess--Those administrations did a half-assed job. They sorta, kinda tried to iron them out, but never really negotiated in earnest. At very least, they never convinced the other side that there were negative consequences of not negotiating in good faith. Wen your BATNA is status quo, and you can live with status quo, why negotiate anything?

I don't like Trump's approach. But it's hard to argue with his substantive points. We did take on the lion's share of the burden of defending Europe and, more expensively, Europe's trade routes (compare our defense budgets to theirs), and we did give them one-sided access to our markets, in exchange for their agreement to do what we told them to do about the Cold War. That old order no longer works. But if they like that status quo (and who wouldn't) why would they agree to change it?

I'd like to see the epic debates you and SuperFly allude to. I've seen a little bit of back and forth with Owl on economics, but 99% of what I've seen here seems to either be praising Trump or dogpiling on Mach and whoever. Oh, and of course "owning the libs."

Look for the religious stuff, it is hilarious. Use the search feature.

And why shouldn't we be praising Trump? We've seen his results. Heck, I couldn't even look at Oblunder and yet I'll be honest with you if he had been HALF as proficient in presidential matters I'd be a Demoncrap too. Unfortunately, what can I say Oblunder had the Midas touch in reverse. Everything he touched turned to shiite.

So what do us Cons do? We do what the Libturds will NEVER do, we praise his work...and his guts in the world stage. Oblunder was a p***y and you KNOW it. Shiite, half the world now has red lines all over. They're called
