Fort Wayne’s new branding
http://www.wane.com/sports/purdue-fort-w...1247217621
At least they kept Fort Wayne and the Mastadon logo, but Purdue making sure to get their slice of the branding pie of a team that whipped the Hoosiers the past 2 years.
I think the general public will ignore Purdue-Ft Wayne and stick with Fort Wayne.
Fort Wayne is opening a new arena soon. Allen County War Memorial Coliseum was a classic venue for the Mastadons and minor league hockey.
They really belong in the Horizon.

I still say making them change their colors to match Purdue's is bush league.

The black, gold, gray, white, and blue combo looks atrocious

RE: Fort Wayne’s new branding
It's a standard in Indiana. IU's branch campuses use the same crimson and white colors, while Purdue's branch campuses use black and gold. IUPUI, as a campus of both schools, uses red and gold.
I will agree that the Fort Wayne blue and white looks ugly with the Purdue black and gold. I understand the nod to the previous history of IPFW. But, I don't think the Purdue black and gold will go away. They're part of Purdue now.

If they're going to go in on the Purdue colors then they might as well go all in and change the crest from dark blue to black. Half-measures rarely work, especially ones this artless in execution.
I would say having to add Purdue to their athletic branding hurts them because it turns them into an adjunct, but it's not as though Fort Wayne as a brand has that much history.

I would go further to say that even though Purdue is a B1G institution, the name "Purdue" doesn't seem to hold as much weight as "Indiana." Indiana-Fort Wayne sounds better than Purdue-Fort Wayne, in my opinion.

Not sure about the new arena, I thought the mayor killed that proposal in late 2017

IPFW is splitting. Since most of the colleges are associated with Purdue, 80% of the former IPFW will be PUFW. The other 20% or so will be IUFW, which won’t have athletic teams (yet).

A different shade of blue would might work better with that old gold and black.
(Oh well. Maybe in the future.)
Does anyone know if IUPUI is also changing its name?

In contrast with IPFW which is mostly Purdue colleges, IUPUI colleges are mostly IU affiliated. The Purdue engineering school there would have to split off.
Apparently, Indiana U will not support decisions that were made in a cooperative agreement, so they took the Health Sciences college at IPFW and left. Since they own 80% of IUPUI, they already effectively control it.

Well, for a derivative/second-class institution of the Purdue system, you get this for branding.
Away from the flagships, it’s like you just can’t have nice things.

RE: Fort Wayne’s new branding
There is no arena planned in Fort Wayne. Some discussion about an arena on the old GE campus but that is just talk. Fort Wayne does not need another arena
