Yep, that play would definitely be an illegal hit these days. It would probably get the defender arrested and quarantined in solitary confinement. Kinda like LA Tech's "Chad Boyd" hit against LSU above.

Here's one of my favorite plays for ODU. In the Monarchs' 2016 42-24 win over FAU, Jeremy Cox flat runs over FAU DB Raekwon Williams enroute to an 84 yard TD. This is a 2016 Cox highlight video, so the play is at the 17 second mark. Enjoy!
Oh, and if you want a bonus look at Cox, there is a really nice 67 yard TD run against Southern Miss at the 2:20 mark.
We lose Ray Lawry this year, but I think we are going to be just fine at RB with Cox, et. al.
Cheers!

For a full game it would be the raining of 3s to take down defending champion Syracuse at their place in their home opener the following season. That crowd didn't know what hit them.

Tyrone Brazelton's FULL COURT SHOT against FAU (were any of you FAU fans at that game?):
Wow! There's your best play for WKU fans. Daaaaayum!!
Not quite, lol...Hell I don't even remember that play...Impressive shot but was not that impactful at FAU in middle school gym going into halftime....
My favorite two plays were the UK game in which I was there and Ty Rogers shot, those 2 would be hard to top if you are a WKU fan...Now I remember Patrick Sparks hitting buzzer beater right in front of me to beat NMSU in SBC tournament semifinals would have to rank pretty high in terms of high impact buzzer beater....

Good call. IIRC, Plavich hit 10 3s himself and several were literally 6-8 behind the line. he always had crazy range.

Another of my all-time favorite plays is the TD pass from Taylor Heinicke to David Washington in OT to beat LA Tech in 2014. The play was a good one, but the setting was what made it special. It was Senior Day for the Monarchs, and it was Heinicke's last home game as a Monarch. LA Tech came into Foreman Field undefeated in conference play with five straight wins. ODU was 4-6 and needed to win its last two games to be bowl eligible in their first year in FBS (and they did). Trailing by ten after one half of play, the Monarchs held Tech scoreless in the second half and tied it up to force overtime. After holding the Dogs to a field goal, the Monarchs scored on a quick pass from Heinicke to Washington. The call was an audible, and it was Heinicke's last pass at Foreman Field. Washington juked Tech's Barnes out of his jock on his way to the end zone. This is definitely one of those plays Monarch fans who were there will never forget.
This is a game highlight video, so advance to the 1:01 mark to see the play.
Cheers!

The Dream Team comprised of Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, Rebecca Lobo, Jennifer Azzi, Dawn Staley. It was the equivalent of the 1992 Men's Dream Team. Imagine that team playing a Mens Collegiate team. The Womens Dream Team had already beat UCONN 83-47, Tennessee 82-58, Colorado 107-24, Old Dominion 97-40
The Techsters lead part of the first half, halfway through the second half the Techsters take the lead only to have a charge called against them. Leon Barmore, in true form, takes off his jacket and throws it across the floor and the sold out crowd goes nut.
Needless to say, the Lady Techsters gave the Dream Team by far it's closest test of their exhibition tour losing by 9 points 85-74.
The Techsters went on to lose the in the National Championship game against UNC by a last second shot
That was the best women's basketball game I've ever seen. I think Coach Barmore might have legitimately had a "heart attack" that game. I know he passed out on the sideline. The TAC was rocking that night! I like to think we helped Team USA win a gold medal that year. Lord knows we gave them the best game, including the Olympics that year.
Even though it was an exhibition game against the best Women players in the world, Coach Barmore wanted to win!

Glad we could help, we have special knack for making memories for the opposing teams

I remember that hit very well. The Houston player's tooth was knocked out along with his helmet coming off.

I was at the game at West Point when Randy Moss made the below play against Army. Unfortunately, there was no video screen for the crowd to watch the replay. I couldn't wait to return to my hotel room to see a replay.
