I have been giving this some thought, and I think a brilliant move by Aresco would be to change the name of the conference slightly from the American Conference, or American Athletic Conference to "American Power Conference". This would be a genius marketing strategy. The word power would be directly in the conference and the media would be forced to call us the American Power Conference. The American Power Conference would insist on being called by their legal conference name. Eventually it would become part of standard conversation when talking about and giving the conference name. What do you think. This would be absolutely brilliant.

Back in the 90's, in exchange for certain music videos, MTV VJ's were obligated to call Michael Jackson the 'King of Pop' at least two times per week.

We should just make it part of our next TV deal; the broadcasters must refer to us as a power conference twice per game.

This is what the Pentagon has done with named operations since Operation Just Cause in 1989. Make the name positive so when the media reports on it, they always have to use the uplifting name. It's why the name for the Global War on Terror changed from the initial "Infinite Justice" to "Enduring Freedom". Last cool named Operation we had was "Urgent Fury", the invasion of Grenada. (This does not count for local named operations. One named operation we had in Iraq was called "Accounting to God". Our higher headquarters was pissed but our Iraqi counterparts picked the name)

I think there are more pros than cons. One of the cons might be someone from ESPN saying "there seems to be a power outage in the American".

i think it looks desperate TBH. but im not against it...

Great idea but I think they'll just refer the conference as the "American" as everyone does now. We must also be careful about name changes or we'll just end up being called the conference formally known as " the American" much like the singer but without​ the weird outfits.

So far our names have been big east, old big east, american athletic, american athletic conference, the a merican, Power 6, and AAC.
