Well, I've deleted my diatribe written about the NCAA and the selection committee, and I would just like to say, "UConn, make your case on the field. Win."

With some of these hosting nods I have to wonder how much conference tournament performance even really mattered.

UNC gets a host laying and egg in the ACC tournament and not even having 40 wins is bs and NCSU is weak for host also laying an egg in the ACC tournament.

Exactly what I predicted in the other thread. When there is AN argument (not the best argument or the most arguments) against one of our schools in favor of someone from the "P5", we're going to get screwed. Believe me, we know UConn feels. Not only did we not host in 2014 with an AAC tournament title and an RPI in the top 10, but we got sent to protected seed #8 LSU.

I worry for us or UCF. The selection committee just needs a (any) reason.

Yup. No way we get 5 bids.

Also, I'd like to point out BaseballAmerica's newest Regional projection:

1. Texas Tech
2. UCONN
3. Texas A&M
4. New Mexico State

BaseballAmerica continues to troll UCONN with 3 Top 16 RPI teams in the same Region. Bunch of losers over there.

RE: Road to Omaha 2018
Could the hosting argument be played with facilities and fan attendance as part of the factors? In other words, if you don't get a lot of fans at your games and your facilities aren't "that great" you get hurt on hosting appeal?

I think UConn's situation was like ours in the early 2000s. On-campus park probably not up to snuff for regional hosting but we had access to a minor league stadium 30m down the road.

That said, I have no idea what the committee would look for on things like that as baseball isn't a revenue sport and super facilities aren't always at all schools who can get it done to merit hosting. Most of the better facilities are generally speaking in the south.

UCSB hosted in 2016 I think, and their stadium holds 1k. They played it somewhere off campus, so UConn has options if that were the case and it shouldn't be held against them.

UCONN hosted in Norwich in 2010. We averaged 3,500 per game with Florida State and Oregon as the other 2 teams there. Oregon brought no one. 3,000 of those fans were supporting UCONN.

Additionally, we played 5 games in Hartford this year (another Minor League stadium). Those games averaged anywhere between 2,200 - 3,200 fans.

The Norwich facility is a perfectly acceptable facility and would have good attendance.

UCONN placed its bid using the CT Tigers Minor League Stadium in Norwich, CT. We hosted there in 2010. It holds about 6,000.

Speaking of which, even though this came from a UNC guy I still got quite a laugh out of it.
