Bulletin board material
Athlon Sports has their preseason all-MAC team. Some noticeably missing players: Bellamy, and especially Wassink.

Now, health certainly plays a part, but the only guy I would take out of the other RBs and QBs listed over our guys is James Gilbert, maybe... and we tried to, ha!

Maybe it will be good for those two to have the "crack on the shoulder" mentality; healthy they can make a giant difference for this offense.

Incidentally, that expression made no sense, because it's about wood chips, not a sprained AC joint. You'd think a guy whose entire team system is named after a giant piece of wood could come up with a better expression!

Bellamy just needs to stay healthy. The rest will take care of itself.

Bellamy is our best RB and one of the best in the MAC if he can just stay healthy. He's got skinny sprinter's legs...hopefully they're packing on some muscle this offseason. Averaged 8 YPC on 49 carries in 2017 season and 6.4 YPC on 77 carries in 2015.

Wassink should definitely be in there over Childers and probably Ragland too. Before he went down against EMU, he was at 65% completion, 14 TDs, 4 INTs, high efficiency, and all that with young, inexperienced receivers.

Athlon is kind of so-so when it comes to pre-season publications. We'll see what Phil Steele says.

RE: Bulletin board material
I thought Wasink got better over time, but he certainly wasn't a world beater, and in fact was the reason folks cited for our team underperforming until he went out with injury. I thought coaches were just too cautious with him, which actually worked very much to his disadvantage. I still think he has the potential to be a great qb, but unfortunately that might come down to whether Lester and co. put him in a good position to take advantage of what defenses are giving. If they do, he, and the team, will be good.

Having said that, I don't think there is ANY reason why all-MAC prognosticators would put Wasink up for preseason accolades. He has accomplished very little to merit such recognition. Bellamy, on the other hand, has. He is a bonafide slight. He has been, and is, legit.

....I like it when our guys get passed up for these preseason awards though. It motivates, and those guys are wrong more often than not it seems.

It’s the rather be the team nobody worried about vs the team everyone prepared extra for... I’d rather surprise than let down...

Agree, Bellamy stays healthy, look out, Bogan will get us tough yards on the ground but Bellamy gets outside he can easily take it to the house, would love to see him get some bubble screen passes

Crossing patterns with Bellamy and Eskridge off play action on first down.

I wouldn’t really call it a snub since he can’t stay healthy.

But if he does stays healthy, he’s more than capable of being the top back in the league... Gilbert included.

Hopefully Bellamy has packed on some beef. Stood in line with him at 2016 MAC Champ game getting some food (he didn't dress) 165# then. Explosive runner.
