The only time my service has been disturbed is usually the time when you shouldn't have anything plugged in (thunderstorm) - so I can live with that.

The cable company just keeps raising its prices too much for me - dish is more than reasonable for the money. Having the dish on the house is not a problem for me either, I noticed on a cartoon (yes a cartoon) that they now include a dish on certain houses.

Yeah, a lot of people sell their homes with the dish attached and ready to go. That's what I did. I just left the dish on the roof for the buyer.

The big issue with me is the lack of local channels. If the local channels were available in this area via satellite, I'd feel differently and I probably would've stuck with my dish. But every time I wanted to watch a local channel, I'd have to cut off the Direct TV receptor and switch modes on the TV. Very frustrating, especially during football or basketball season when I wanted to bounce back and forth from a game on satellite to a game on a local station.

My hookups took some work, but I even convinced the wife and she has no problems watching dish or cable
