Senior CB transfer from Syracuse
Juwan Dowels, senior CB, smaller, but has started seven games. Looks like he got injured in 2016 and surpassed on the depth chart.

We seriously need some depth at DB, he joins the Jackson Bros. for the fight to start opposite Beal.

He's an undersized kid, who had a lot of good offers out of highschool. Didn't fit the new defense that emphasizes tall/long DBs. Nice pick up

Good pickup for you guys...he had some good plays for us. He at worse will be a quality backup...but he probably is good enough to start if he is healthy.

And one more link

https://www.nunesmagician.com/2018/5/9/1...ester-grad

As the link above stated, Cuse allowed this transfer...not too many schools would allow a player to transfer to an opponent on the next season's schedule. I'm sure Juwan will have mixed emotions but I'm happy he gets to live his dream one more year.

Isn't he a grad transfer? If so, Syracuse cant object and he is essentially a free agent, right? Or didn't he get his degree yet?

He is a grad transfer, so he can go where he wants and doesn't have to sit out a year.

Not yet, up for a vote.... Miami blocked a 5th year player last season (Gus Edwards) from doing his grad transfer year at Cuse.

I could be wrong about grad transfers going any place.

Yep, needs a release

Graduate Exception
The graduate exception is a version of the one-time transfer exception. It is for student-athletes who cannot use the normal one-time transfer exception because they play one of the sports that are not permitted to use the exception.

The student-athlete must have graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree;
The student-athlete meets the other requirements of the one-time transfer exception;
The student-athlete must have at least one season of competition left; and
The student-athlete’s previous school did not renew his or her athletic scholarship or offer an athletic scholarship for the following academic year.
The requirement that the scholarship be cancelled or not renewed is generally not an issue. The scholarship does not need to be cancelled before the transfer or be the reason for the transfer. Because the one-time transfer exception requires you to get a release, what will happen with your scholarship is generally just an administrative detail.

was a target of WMU out of high school. Should be able to play outside or in the slot. Can't have too much depth, especially after last year when student assistants were practically playing on the scout team due to injuries.

So he was targeted by the PJ regime? Fun that Lester finally got him to the zoo!

I'm pretty sure he was a Northern Illinois verbal before going to Syracuse. Might be thinking of someone else though.

And generally, the only limitations a school will put on a grad transfer is not to a Conference rival or an opponent on their upcoming schedule. So, IMO Cuse is doing right by the kid & us to let him transfer to a 2018 opponent.
