That is very much a possibility... I have reached the end of the internet and have not found any articles or precompiled stats to confirm or deny his claim.

Back to Bartow at UCLA. This may be a short stay. Seems like Alford has a pretty hot seat.

Anybody try to contact the writer to see what his top 4 were?

I suspect it's going to be some old timer at a small school who had a son in coaching. Did Jim Phelan at Mount Saint Mary have sons who coached.

Don't think so. I went through the top 40 coaches in wins & didn't see any other sons that haven't been mentioned who both are still lower than the Bartows.

You would almost need to look in a list of coaches who have won around 200 or more games to be able to match up with the top coaches & still get the 950+ that is needed.

I am assuming we are talking NCAA D1 too. I didn't realize until I was trying to find this answer that some NAIA coach has more wins than Coach K

I had them earlier. They have around 800 wins

I also checked, Charlie and Jay Spoonhour but not enough wins

Also, I would not have thought that Murry had as many victories as he had. Must have racked them up at ETSU.

I emailed him, but havent heard back. I'm starting to think it's one of two things:
Either the original list he had read and was referencing had Pat Summit on it and was gender neutral, then the writer made the mistake of saying father son when he relayed the info
OR
Someone was counting Hank Iba twice.
We mentioned Hank and Moe Iba
There is also a Gene Iba, and he and Hank together would be on the list but Gene was Hanks nephew not his son.

Of course, MB mentioned, it's possible there is some naia or d2 coach/son combo none of us have ever heard of.

I just sent him a tweet. We will see.

The Drew family as a whole has 1020 victories but that is father & sons.

You also see different win totals depending on the site. College basketball reference only counts D1 wins. Wikipedia lists all wins on some depending on the person. It's possible one of the coaches we mentioned has some additional wins at Junior college or D2 level that were counted.

I don't think Central Missouri was D1 when Gene coached there but his wins there are included in his win total.
