Haha. Right? Also, why do A-she-she fans continue to start threads here? I mean, I know this board is an escape for them since it is actually fun (unlike their own upright board), but seriously? If we even comment on the ACC board, one of their mods immediately gets their panties in a bunch.

Anyway, the anti-UCONN bias with these same ACC posters is comical. Vag Tech football is a shell of its former self, but their fans think they are Alabama. Anyway, we AAC fans can at least usually count on ECU to show Vag Tech who is boss.

RE: Realignment UNCHAINED!
So in this scenario AAC would gain:

- Cuse
- Vanderbilt
- Wake
- Duke
- Kansas

And lose UCF, ECU, Memphis, Navy.

That would create a terrifying basketball conference. Football would obviously suffer.

It does when you bring in a FB Coach that is Big 12 Coach of Year in his second season and out recruited all but one AAC team in 2018.

Tell that to 2008 Orange Bowl Champs, Kansas. Jayhawk Football is still Jayhawk Football.

True. Since joining the FBS, UCONN Football has sucked equally or less than Iowa State Football. Looking forward to our conference games with the Cyclones in the near future.

Boring yes. But the fact that the OP includes ECU also makes this the stupidest thread ever.

Yes, but it raises the question: What made ECU crash and burn? When Ruffin was canned? What the hell happened?

Because they're in a P5 conference. Their own AD admitted a while back that if it weren't for that, they would be a MWC level program.

You know Iowa State averaged over 57,000 fans per game last year, 28th in the nation. While not in a huge media market, they are in the 68th largest media market. Its also a pretty good school. Not sure how they are a "welfare" program.

Attendance doesn't really help your conference. It is self-serving.

Ways to provide value to your conference (ie not be on welfare):

Bowl game appearances
Basketball tourney credits
Quality TV ratings

The same thing could be said about any P5 program. If Duke was in CUSA or Alabama was in the SunBelt or Iowa State was in the MWC what you say would be true, but none of those schools are.

So, I didn't go with the "what if's". I went with the standard that the OP used which was "fan support" and I disagreed with him on his own terms.

How does a school's high attendance make them less of a conference welfare queen? How are the other 9 schools benefiting from Iowa State's attendance?

Cincinnati is close. Houston is VERY close. And no, Wake, Cuse and BC would NOT make the cut if it was the top 64 teams in terms of fan support - they are all too small.

To some extent that is the same handicap facing UC and UH - and what makes teams like ECU and UCF so attractive.

Personally, I think UC and UH make up for that thanks to strategic/geographic advantages (i.e. both are located in good recruiting areas and big TV markets), but those are not strikes against ECU or UCF. Memphis isn't a bad spot either (neither is Navy, but their handicap is military service after graduation).

There's more to support than butts in the seat at a football game. If that was the end all be all then BYU would have been in a P5 conference years ago.

BYU would have been in the PAC if they didn't have some major off the field differences with the PAC. Lots of issues with BYU outside of their really strong fan base.
