I think local recruits already do that. Luckily, Murphy can find talent out of state, as our three best players coming back are from three different parts of the country.

It’s great to get local kids like Kevin McAdoo, but none of us should really care where the talent comes from. All of their uniforms have the Block E on them, no matter what state they call home.

Sam, I don't really care where our recruits are from either but there's a ton of talent here and in the Midwest.

It used to be that EMU got our fair share of elite highschool players and then Kampe overtook us. However Kampe is getting too old and he did a terrible job for Oakland last year. Oakland really underperformed last season with the talent they had. UofD has really threatened us on the court although for the life of me I didn't understand how Corey Davis picked UofD over us.

My point was Oakland will most likely lose their basketball luster after Kampe retired. Murphy has a good opportunity this season to claim metro Detroit as his mid major territory if he can win big this season while UofD rebuilds. If we underachieve this season again, the UofD will take over Oakland's spot as the mid major owner of Detroit.

I'm not sure how I would handicap mid-major recruiting in S.E. Michigan other than to say that it is dicey.

I don't see anyone blowing it wide open.

I still maintain Murphy's biggest strength is his ability to evaluate college players and then recruit them as transfers.
