Is that right now in 2018 or for the future contract?

Current, Dr. Rudd threw that out there to compare with P5s who have big media $ when determining the athletic budget. Memphis was on track to lose 10% due to bball and thus the change.

RE: Current Media Contract 2.3-2.6m per Memphis Pres
The number I've heard/read repeatedly from the Memphis camp is 6. Rudd has also mentioned it as a floor, but only once that I can recall. My guess is a couple of 2-3m contracts for linear and monetizing streaming. So, 6-7 if someone put a gun to my head today. Another tidbit I heard in an Aresco interview is that ESPN negotiations are due to begin in Feb. and that he's not necessarily opposed to ESPN+ as a streaming component...not at the expense of linear broadcasts though. Made me kind of wonder about the future of the AAC digital network.

but is that really a realistic number? I want to say that the old Big East that still had UL, Pitt and WVU was only being offered $8-9 per team before things exploded

It was $14 Mil per year for football playing schools.

Have a cite on that? I really don't think it was that high, I want to say ACC schools were only getting around 17-19 million during that time frame
This link says 11 million.

If anything the bubble for the absurd TV contracts has popped a little bit. I truly hope it happens, but I'm afraid people are putting the cart before the horse in regards to the next tv contract.

"In 2011, ESPN offered a new nine-year deal to the Big East worth $1.17 billion or an average of $130 million annually. However, the Big East's presidents voted to turn down the deal that would have earned football members nearly $14 million a year."
So the football conference that would be getting $14 Mil per team was:
Pitt
Cuse
Rutgers
WVU
Louisville
USF
Cincinnati
UCONN
The Pitt President blew up the deal, knowing his school was headed to the ACC.

I stand corrected. That was a pretty fair offer all things considered.

I think in your article, Blaudschun didn't account for the fact that the football-playing schools received a higher pay-out than the C7.

It could be close for schools with both sports. I have heard $7-$8million for schools with all sports (football and basketball), about the same for Navy due to their bonus broadcasting rights, and $450K for basketball only schools.

That aint bad---but I have to say our basketball is being very undervalued if thats the case (basing that on the fact that the Big East gets 4 million a team and the A-10 gets almost 350K a team). I'd think our basketball would be worth at least 1 to 2 million based on our recent numbers.

He wasn't serious about the 450k. It was just another cheap shot at WSU.

USF, Cincinnati, and UConn are getting 10m in total AAC revenue per year but that includes the huge Big East buyout money which will run out soon. We need an increase in tv revenue just to break even.
