We need to float them a non-football offer.

Why? All their natural rivalries are out west. They don't add much in basketball. I don't think they'd consider it anyway. Make it all sports or nothing.

I don't like BYU. Hope the MWC takes Gonzaga and leaves BYU hanging out to dry in the WCC.

Between BYU fans and Wichita fans it would be an epic race to the bottom.

I say we take Gonzaga and BYU and move them into the Plains. That resolves the distance issue and it will bring civilization to Nebraska.

RE: Wichita started movement
I would love for this conference to go west with BYU and Gonzaga as non-football additions while adding SDSU and UNLV for all sports.

This would be your Olympic sport breakdown in terms of divisions/regions. Basketball doesn't need division by with a 20 game schedule I would imagine regional rivals and the best teams would get repeat games.
West: SDSU, UNLV, BYU, Gonzaga, Houston, SMU, Tulsa, Wichita State
East: UConn, Temple, Cincinnati, ECU, USF, UCF, Tulane, Memphis

Football
West: Houston, SMU, Tulsa, UNLV, SDSU, Tulane, Memphis
East: Cincinnati, UConn, Temple Navy, ECU, USF, UCF

Does Gonzaga have money? They play in a tiny arena and their coach makes probably half his market value. I bet the MWC travel will stretch every dollar they have.

Looking at it from another angle, if Gonzaga left the WCC, it would gives BYU a much better opportunity to gain the automatic bid, basically only competing with Saint Mary's.

But nicely played.

Ouch. BYU fans are good folks, great school with a national following. Probably not a good fit for the AAC, but they would be a nice addition to any conference they join.

Gonzaga - no thanks. Weirdo school, no football, far west coast.

If they're going to be traveling anyway might as well go to Houston, Dallas, Wichita, Tulsa, etc.

Because we win no matter what. Giving BYU another solid Olympic option eliminates the MW’s ability to force BYU football into the MW. That’s a win for us. If BYU come to the AAC, that’s a win because it’s another successful well funded basketball program with a solid national fan base that costs us virtually nothing to add. 04-cheers

Sure. West division football champions 2017.

Going further west is the last thing this conference needs. Dayton and VCU are no brainers, but Aresco has terrified everyone into thinking the old Big East model has anything to do with having 3 basketball schools in a 14 team conference. Spoiler alert, it does not.

Cincinnati will also do everything it can go keep Dayton out. It's a shame, because you suddenly have a conference that looks more power than not in hoops if you add those schools.
