Is it an apology for playing the most boring basketball in the country?

Beats not playing at all in March. Boeheim has absolutely maximized the talent he has to work with this year.

Next year should be better. Bringing in some highly rated recruits as they recover from probation. Offensive efficiency should improve...has to, right?

RE: Syracuse Apologizes To America's Basketball Fans
My first semester out of college, I took this very old man for a math or econ course. Literally every lecture he found a way to ramble on and on about his “dear alma mater” Syracuse and recall vivid stories about Jim Brown. There wasn’t a single sports fan in there besides me. No one had any idea what he was talking about and every class was a chorus of the eyeroll crew (ERC). Yet he was living in his own world, unaware of the room, and would never stop about a school 1,000 miles away. The class was worth the price of admission just to see the reactions. 03-lmfao

One thing that Boeheim does know unlike the coach from UNC Ashville when you are leading by 3 with 7 seconds left in the game you instruct your team to foul. Syracuse fouled and won and is the sweet 16 of the NCAA. The UNC Ashville coach is home watching Bud Light Commercials because he did not foul and USC hit the 3 point shot and tied the NIT game and won in double OT.

Boeheim recently learned that lesson himself about 5 or 6 years ago. He used to frustrate me to no end when he had a 3 point lead he would choose to play defense and take his chances. He lost enough games like that that he finally chooses to foul instead. About time.

It’s an obvious intentional foul. Should be two shots and possession. Same for the losing team dragging-on games down by 10.

The problem is, there isn’t an easy fix for it so I guess it’ll have to remain.

Well if you foul, you give them a chance to narrow it to one and you still have to kill 7 seconds.

Without our 3 point shot we were just a middling to bad team down the stretch. We averaged under or right around 20% the last 4 games. That was our strength earlier in the year (45% at one point). Obviously some credit should go to the defense... or does it? Pomeroy doesn't think that defense can really affect 3 point shooting percentage, only the # of 3 pointers.

I haven't watched Boeheim as much as you but, like a lot of coaches, it seems he does better with less talent. It's almost like they stop coaching and put it on cruise control. Coach K is another one. It seems like he does better with 5 no-name freshmen than with 10 senior All-Americans.

They neutralized Coach Smith's masterful 4 corners clock killer with the employment of the shot clock. I guess they could introduce a new rule where any (not in the act of shooting) foul committed inside of 1 minute becomes a 2 shot with possession type of foul.

Per a source involved in sports TV analysis, the five most popular college basketball programs are:
Duke , UNC, Kentucky, Kansas and Syracuse. I'm sure the committee knows that and can't hurt these teams getting in the tournament.

What's your source? I always though based on the popularity, it is

1. Kentucky
2. UNC
3. Louisville
4. Kansas
5. Duke
