Survey: Your health spending
Just finished my taxes and have the numbers handy. This was the 2017 outlay for myself, my wife, and college enrolled daughter.
Medicare tax our share: $2245.74
Medicare employer share: $2245.74
Health insurance premium our share: $3653.90
Health insurance employer share: $10,961.43
Out-of-pocket spending. $6750
Didn't run back to see how much insurance paid out.
Grand total $25,856.81 or $8618.94 per person.

RE: Survey: Your health spending
So many variables........
Here is one I heard of in years past........
Spouse #1 is Union worker and pays zero for family insurance.
Spouse #2 waives insurance coverage but gets "some" of the insurance benefit from the Union job insurance they have through an "Union card" that allows coverage of co-pay and other "non-covered items" (even over the counter meds). That adds up to a lot with a family. In fact, so much, that it might want someone to work longer if explained properly.
Benefits are explained only as good as the company wants them to be.
The small print in daily living is large enough to justify conceal carry.

Probably not a good idea to post your medicare portion.
Anyway, without that, here's mine:
My premiums (Medical and Dental): $2,600
Employer share: $19,350
HSA Withholding: $1,400
Out-of-pocket (not counting non-reimbursable items like cold medicines): $1,100
Total: $24,450, $8,150 each.

Well, apparently my employer sucks. Our share is almost $14K for a family of 4 (all healthy--no unusual conditions)--so I guess the employer is paying almost nothing. Believe it or not, for us, Obamacare would be even higher. The biggest loser on Obamacare has been middle class families--which is why the Democrats will remain out of power. They dont get it.
