Sampson just like onetime Memphis CheatingCal is known to break an NCAA rule or 3. And use illegal recruiting tactics. Leopards never change their spots. He is as dirty as Cal, Patino and Tarkanian. Hell Tarkanian would still be cheating if not for the fact he's dead.

Or the seriously wealthy boosters, and university president, willing to do what it takes to climb conferences (see TCU).
Houston definitely has the university president who is very pro-athletics. But they have less seriously wealthy boosters than you think. They had one a few years ago in John Moores who was super rich and super pro-sports. And of course they have Tillman Fertitta now. But both have become more involved in pro athletics over time and don't seem as dedicated to their college alma mater any more (well Moores seems that way; Fertitta still is a UH fan but also now owns the Rockets).
Of course it only takes 1 super rich, pro-sports guy to make a difference (Oklahoma State and T. Boone Pickens is a great example of that).

Tilman is the Chairman of the BOR...so, he's still pretty involved. Super trial lawyer John O'Quinn was a great benefactor as well (still is---even after his death in 2009).

It amazes me given the Tiger's basketball history that two hires like Pastner and Tubby have happened.

Well, we're about to see what a hometown hero with recruiting ties and no college coaching experience can do. Season tix should pick back up.
ETA: You know the apocalypse is nigh when Tiger football sells 22,000 season tix, but bball can't muster 5,000 gate per game.

I have wondered how the Tiger faithful are adjusting to being a football school now instead of basketball. So will Hardaway be hired soon or does Tubby get one more year?

It was a beautiful sight to see. Was at a bar this past Saturday, bunch of Coog fans since I live in Houston. They were going crazy after they took the lead with a few seconds left in the game. My fiance and her friend are from Michigan, so they were cheering the whole game too. One of the Houston fans next to me was shouting and cursing at the Michigan teams, f-this, f-that.... and here comes Michigan. Buzzer beater... the whole bar went silent! The guy next to me and his girl just walked out. Didnt even say a word. My fiance and her friend were going crazy... surrounded by red shirts. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

It was a tough ending but we've endured a lot over decades. This was such a great season that it's amazing that it's bitterly disappointing they didn't beat a Final Four contender.
It sucks though. Win that game and they're a legit Final Four contender.

I see yall are still bitter about being left behind.
49-28....
Have fun playing airports, oceans, Arroz, commuter school branch campuses and directionals.
That said, I'd much rather have Southern Miss in the AAC than a quarter of the AAC. They earned it.

That's pretty good.
28-48, 51-27
That's both programs respective records since the 2011 season.

Yep, that is true. After Fedora left, 3-33 was hard to handle. Things are getting better, but it has been a struggle. Dimel went 0-10 at Houston and you guys recovered. Anyway, that day in Houston was a great win.
For what its worth I'd trade ECU, Tulane, or Tulsa for you guys in a heart beat. The 2011 loss was painful but we did have the '06 championship to offset it. Whats the outlook for this year?
Good question. Recruiting has been good, but we lost our whole defensive backfield. If some of the new JC recruits can help immediately there, it will help. I have my fingers crossed on a redshirt QB that looks to have real potential and a JC qb that looks good. We will miss Ito Smith in the backfield though. I am thinking 8-4 again. Good luck to your Coogs.

With 3 of the top 24 seeds in the tournament, that's called underperforming. Based on original seeding, 9 units was the expected result.
