I think we look small minded and bitter when we deride UH, UT, TCU, Baylor and some others. I think it is a feeling of inferiority or regret that, in the cases of TCU, Baylor, and UH, schools whose athletics programs were not as good as ours have passed us bye, significantly. It is not their fault that our administration (whoever it was) mangled things up (arguably they are guilty of malpractice.) We should have the grace to congratulate them for their achievements, rather than make snarky comments out of envy.

I wish Rice basketball could fail this spectacularly.

Agree but not re UH, just sorry. Not with that bunch of fans and the fact that letting them into the SWC was a major contributor to its demise. Never ever no way.

That's a sad, delusional statement right there. You are indirectly blaming UH for the demise of Rice athletics. Take a look in the mirror. UH has been starving in the desert for 30 years as well. What exactly has your campus/alumni/students been doing in that time period?

RE: Coogin it
Rice has to get out of CUSA to keep pace - Or at least be the class of the conference. The owls have the ability and the resources to do, just maybe not the administration.

Houston is and always will be a bandwagon city. People were starting to get behind TSU after their win , it wouldn’t take sustained success to get some blue shirts sold and butts in seats.

UH has done a good job of recognizing that and at this point failure is being average for them and fans are along for the ride. Not sure how sustainable these builds and successes will be but I promise no UH fan thinks we cooged this season.

We were predicted to finish in the middle of the conference and almost won the damn thing (tied for 2nd and were a point away from c. Tournament champs).

UH is in the right direction, and if Rice would wake up and get to a good place it would be good for us actually. Rivalries build interest and help both programs. Cincinnati and Xavier are a good example of that for hoops closest thing to Houston/Rice.

like I said I think cusa is a dead conference but Rice shouldn’t let that be an excuse they should double down, spend some money and get a few ivy kids who can ball.

Agree +1.

TCU, Baylor, Sam Houston, and yes, UH, have all made significant monetary commitments to athletics and it's paid off exponentially. Not sure why we would ever deride them when we are clearly sliding the wrong way. Granted, I'm excited about Bloomgren and if the OG's contract situation ever gets ironed out and a succession plan is put in place, I think baseball will rebound.

But....until we see results.....I'm just gonna congratulate my UH friends on their success.

RE: Coogin it
My opinions on UH and TCU have nothing to do with our relative positions on anything athletic now, but rather on past behavior. Also, I didn't realize one had to have a relative amount of success before being allowed to disrespect somebody else. what is this, 1814? Are we supposed to know our place and not say anything about the aristocrats?

This is America. Even lazy bums have the right to speak.
