Mid majors putting in work
Good day 1 of the tournament for mid majors, Buffalo, Loyola, URI and Houston all still alive. 3 of them knocking off P5 opponents. Good publicity for the MAC

Buffalo had the best win of the bunch, and clearly the biggest upset. I love any mid-major taking out big conference schools. I think it is deliberate when the committee sets up games pitting good mid-majors, both who have a great chance of winning a few games, against each other so that fewer power conference schools are eliminated by mid-majors. Houston vs San Diego St is an example of that.

Not to pick nits but given its basketball history not sure Houston can be considered Mid-Major in hoops regardless of conference (same with Cincinnati).

Agree. Not a nit.

They arent Phi Slamma Jamma anymore (nor is UCLA or DePaul their previous selves) but they have the commitment and resources including a talent pool they draw from.

Wasn’t just an upset, it was a blowout, they really stuck it to the committee with that win
