SEC in the First Weekend
Alabama is currently playing Virginia Tech...looks like a back and forth game.
Florida will tip off against St. Bonaventure within a few minutes.
We've seen Tennessee blow out Wright State.
Kentucky survived the dreaded 5/12 matchup and got past Davidson.
Of course, that means there are 4 more teams in action tomorrow.
Good start for the league so far.

Plus two NIT wins in the books.

LSU, Miss St both advance in NIT
Kentucky, TN, Alabama, and Florida all advance in NCAA with four more to go.

Bama will get Villanova on Saturday and it's in Pittsburgh so not too far from home for them.
It's a tough match-up and I'll be thrilled to death if we win.

Bama-VT was a great game!
I'm now dreading this Nova game.

I would love to see the Tide show Villanova to the exit. But try not to expire if they do.

Texas A&Ms win makes the SEC 5-0 so far. Ark is down at the half though.
Missouri-FSU is a toss up match, and right now Auburn as a 4 seed has to be worried.

Why should Auburn be worried? The SEC has performed quite well so far. Arkansas has been spotty all year. College of Charleston features essentially a 4 guard offense with 1 big guy. How is that a match up problem for Auburn? That's what we play now that Mclemore is out for the season. I like our players position by position better than theirs and I think our coach is a plus. If we play our game an shoot reasonably well we should win.

JR,
The only basketball reason I have is that their season ended with four losses in their last six games.
I meant my comment more as a commentary on Wichita State and Arizona both losing from the 4 seed spot.

Mizzou is off to their usual slow start. 27-18 right now. I hate first round games.

Tournament is rigged to let KY make a run. I jest, because dang UMBC manhandled Virginia, but really, now the South is anyone's for the taking. Ky/TN rematch with final four on the line?

Possibly, but no else had better overlook UMBC. It's a danged shame UK and UT are in the same bracket. That's how if the tourney is rigged it is done, by who has to whom in an elimination game.

RE: SEC in the First Weekend
Missouri looked completely lost against FSU. It is embarrassing. Would have been nice to carry our own SEC weight.

You lost before the game began. You were 7 deep because of the suspension. It's hard to win with 6 players and one who has only had 6 hours of practice and is out of shape.
I thought they did okay considering.
My Tigers looked the worst they have all season but somehow managed to win. I hope they remember who they are before they play Clemson.
But no matter what happens, UMBC has made this a memorable tournament already.

So far so good with Bama taking on Villanova...
We don't looked outmatched, but as usual, we've got to be more careful with the ball.

Hoping not to lose by 20.

Your Tide has been the 3 Faces of Eve this year. When it's clicking they can blow anybody out. When they get sloppy it gets damned ugly in a big hurry like today. But in the middle of the season there was the Tide team that simply went through the motions, which was okay, but far from your potential.
But that's the problem with a team with young point guards. They are usually the floor leader and kids that age haven't gotten tough enough yet to handle adversity well.
Auburn has had a similar issue, but Mclemore was so brilliant intellectually he could talk them back into focus. Now that he isn't on the floor we get the hot runs, and cold doldrums as well.
If we can keep them together for 3 or 4 years both of our teams might make deep runs.

I think most of our team will be back next year although Collin Sexton is 100% gone. He'll be a lottery pick though so I can't blame him.
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this season. Making the tournament for the first time in a while...winning a tourney game for the first time since 2006. We actually had a lot of good regular season wins as well, but yeah, consistency was the problem.
Hopefully, we build on this for next year.

Now you know why Texas got tired of Rick Barnes. He's a heckuva nice guy, a great regular season coach, but has chronically under-performed and exited early from the post season.
