Anyone think he stays , I kinda hope so . Can’t teach 7’4” and has a decent outside shot if I remember correctly ?

An decent outside shot tends to take away from his best use of the 7'4" frame. Rebounding rebounding rebounding

I want Vanover. Yes, he is a project, but in a couple of years he can be very solid. Having a player like that is a good weapon for pick-n-pops - creating mis-matches with your quick guard driving on their big and, if they don't switch, you get their big our of the lane because he has to honor the potential kickout for the 3.

As stated above, you can't teach 7'4" and the guy as a nice shooting stroke and actually moves fairly well. Just needs a little more meat on his bones and a change for his coordination to catch up. Remember Tacko Fall was not good his freshman year, but turned into a pretty viable weapon by late in his soph season.

We shall see, though.

Someone that has grown as fast as he has still will develop a ton. He is just now slowing/stopping his growth. Imagine when he gets used to his frame and is able to add muscle? He may not develop but I’d certainly take my chances.

If Penny and staff decide to keep him I’m all for it. 7’4” is definitely worth a gamble.

A lot of people here took unnecessary shots at Conner. And they are still taking shots.

I don't blame them.

Several years ago, there was a 7-4 dude who attended Bartlett High. Can’t remember his name. The school was undefeated until Frayser High beat them in State Tournament. It was a big upset. Anyway, the kid went to Vandy and became a decent player. If he’ll still come to Memphis, I’d welcome Conner with open arms. 7-4 is 7-4. You simply cannot pass on that height.

That's the exact opposite of what I've heard.

He has no business being on a high major roster.

Great news. I'm with the OP, this is a unique player with a lot of potential. Earl Barron didn't do much until his senior year and suddenly became an NBA caliber player. He was the project of all projects.

Earl Barron averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks a game as a senior in high school and was all-state honorable mention. He also lettered in tennis, so he was quite athletic.

Vanover currently averages 8, 5, and 2.

Barron averaged 6 and 4 as a frosh. Shaq averaged 7 and 4 and Nichols averaged 9 and 4 as a frosh, so it's not like he was Azab or something. And his junior year was his most productive, not his senior year. Heck, he scored more as a soph than as a senior.
