Again, that costs money. You have to deduct whatever those expenses are from your $500K to get your actual monetary value out of the deal.Typical production costs for football are $50K (certainly more than that if you hire on air talent). Close to half that for basketball.
I can't begin to guess what those figures are, but if you have your own truck and can use students you don't have to pay then I'm sure you can probably get that down to close to $10K per game or so for football and $5K for basketball. It will be similar for other sports (baseball, softball, etc.) depending on how many cameras are used.
That may be true--but if your doing that you have to consider the the same costs for the 60 or so games that the CUSA schools have to produce for CUSA-TV. It just seems to me that the two deals are about as close to equal as you can get in the real world. Overall, the deals are extremely similar.

Yeah, we use students for college credit. And most of the talent we use is already on staff here. Our AD seemed to indicate that the production costs were not an issue here since we already do what ESPN requires anyway. We'd be out a little the first couple years until we get a couple new staff positions budgeted, but by year 3 we'd be getting the full per team share.
In the end, our expenses will be no different than what it costs MTSU to put a game on CUSATV.

Doubt it because that would be zero. Those C-USATV broadcast are just the video board feed and they are beyond awful. There is no way I would ever pay for it. Luckily almost all of our games in football and basketball were on TV or Facebook.

lol not even close, the CUSA games are bascially the video coordinator feed with no audio.
ESPN3 games have field cameras, commentary and are actually produced, huge difference in cost. The production truck, producer, multiple cameramen, audio video technicians, equipment guys, commentators. It isn't cheap for ESPN quality feed, much more than 10k per game.

BTW the way, none of the P5 teams will be on ESPN+, just "programming that ESPN deems not valuable enough (Sunbelt football) to put on regular ESPN channels"

It will be like ESPN Ocho, check out this article.
"ESPN’s new subscription app will cost $5 a month. It will not be a huge hit.
It will cost $5 a month. Tough sell.
That’s because if you’re the kind of person who likes watching the stuff that ESPN is paying billions of dollars a year to show you — NFL games, NBA games, big-time college football and other top-tier sports — ESPN’s new service won’t give you what you want.
Instead, ESPN Plus will have programming that ESPN doesn’t think is valuable enough to put on regular TV
ESPN still hasn’t publicly spelled out what that means, but people familiar with the company have filled in the blanks. Think small college sports."

Ouch. I think they still get some games on the ESPN channels just not sure how many or what days.
At the end of the day, as a team who has a decent fan base for G5 standards, I would prefer to keep our Saturday games. I think that's the biggest thing for us. We make a lot of money off of home games.
ESPN obviously doesn't consider us very valuable either. I'm sure we could get midweek games if we wanted, but I prefer even our newest deal over midweek games.

Yup. I do remember Skipper saying something to the effect that ESPN-Plus would be used for lots of non-power conference content. That said--there's going to be pro soccer and MLB there as well. So, I dont know that I would consider it a warehouse for JUST low value content. I think they like the idea of putting non-power content there because they can get it cheap (or even free) and loyal fans of those schools will pay $4.99 a month just like they do for "Marshall-All Access" or WKU "All Access" content. In fact, in some ways--it just replaces those kinds of services.

Wow. So what you're telling me is that some CUSA games are going to be broadcast as feeds straight from the video board? That's FCS. Hell, that's division 2.
