New CUSA "television" deal announced.
http://conferenceusa.com/news/2018/3/14/...aspx?path=

Seems like the package we have now minus the Bein Sports games. Financial figures not released.

I bet I have more spare chge in my couch. That said, I like CBS and I liked the stadium and FB broadcasts but that doesn't feed the kids.

So when do we start calling ourselves D2. We're still D1 but everything about CUSA is Division 2.

CBS Sports and Stadium are both fine in my book. Having games on Facebook is bush league.

RE: New CUSA "television" deal announced.
While maybe not as visible from a public perspective as if we were on a bigger TV network, having the Stadium produced, Facebook streamed games makes them pretty widely accessible. For those who are already fans, this is a good thing. Obviously the lack of broader exposure hurts somewhat in expanding the brand but our options in the G5 are looking increasingly difficult with the exception of maybe the MWC and AAC.

Is the Fox network saturated? Don’t have the numbers, but seems to me that FS1 and FS2 are more widely distributed than even CBSSN.

Though the league did not announce how much it will receive in rights fees, league sources said it is an increase from $200,000 to $400,000 per school.

We still have a contract with Bein for one more season and may continue ESPN partnership well.

You might call it bushleague but digital is the future. Hell I enjoy the broadcasts.

That’s a positive. I know it’s peanuts compared to other contracts, but at least it is something moving in the right direction.

A league might say they have a $10 million deal with ESPN,” he said. “What they don’t tell you is $9 million is sent back to ESPN in production costs. So they actually have a $1 million deal with ESPN.”

Yes, digital is the future. Streaming on Facebook is not the future. It's bush league.

Stadium is "having the games on Facebook"

It doesn't say, but are the Facebook streamed games also streamed through Pluto, or is it a different Stadium streaming channel? If they're also streamed through Pluto at the same time, then that would change my entire opinion of this.

You do realize what our options were before, right?

If my options are some bootleg site on the Internet or streaming on Facebook, I’ll take the latter.

It is what it is, but it would have been better to just stream the games through YouTube or create a C-USA channel like the Mountain West did. I can pull up Mountain West Conference channel any time of the day through Pluto TV, which literally everyone in the country has free and instant access to with a Roku, Fire Stick, etc.

Edit: Maybe a C-USA channel is an option that should still be explored for the remaining C-USA content. Streaming through Facebook is just not the wave of the future. Young recruits don't even use Facebook. We're basically asking kids not to watch our games.

You don't have to be logged into Facebook to view the stream. Facebook just acts as a content host. Having it simulcast on YouTube is a good idea, but having it on Facebook isnt restrictive.

UaB should be producing their own home games for TV. Then tell C-USA that they can use our feed for a fee to offset production costs. At least then this Mickey Mouse operation would belong to us.

Just saying the word "Facebook" makes my 10-year old daughter and her friends cringe. I'm telling you, this is the worst possible spot to host our games if we want recruits to watch them.
