Cuse Fans Embrace The Hate
We've been screwed several times by the NCAA so a little pay back is deserved.

The tears are delicious from our haters.

This team has 6.5 players and a rumor our guard is sick...so no expectations

I have no dislike for Cuse. They didn't put a shotgun to the Selection Committee's heads.

Good luck in the Tournament.

I don't care, I have moved on. We did not deserve to be in really anyway. Congrats, hope you win, because if you do it brings more money to the ACC.

RE: Cuse Fans Embrace The Hate
I think Syracuse was the beneficiary of the scandals this year. The committee was going to keep Ok State, Southern Cal and Louisville out if they could, not much they could do about Arizona. I don't have a problem with the obvious cheaters getting overlooked. I do think it's a joke Cuse got in ahead of ND. Notre Dame had better wins, and beat you head to head, at Syracuse no less. A few years ago you guys got the benefit of the doubt when Boeheim had been suspended earlier in the year, but ND got no consideration for Colson being out for a key stretch. They were the team that got screwed in my opinion.

I have no problem with Cuse or any other team making it into the tournament. However, when teams like MTSU don't get in this year.... that is what chaps my ass.

I didn't think Cuse was going to get in, and didn't think you deserved to.

That said, this Hoyas fan has no hate for Syracuse getting in. It isn't an outrageous thing, Cuse was validly on the bubble so it could have gone either way, and it happened to go your way. Good luck in the tournament, i suspect you'll do some damage.

All teams around the bubble have flaws,.. MTSU no exception. You can make a case for each depending on what stats you use. You realize half of Cuse's losses came against teams seeded 1 or 2?

RE: Cuse Fans Embrace The Hate
Let's look at these three teams head-to-head:

20-13 record
Strength of Schedule = 18
RPI = 45
4-8 vs Q1, 3-3 vs Q2

25-7 record
Strength of Schedule = 87
RPI = 24
3-4 vs Q1, 6-0 vs Q2

20-11 record
Strength of Schedule = 86
RPI = 66
3-4 vs Q1, 5-5 vs Q2

These are Syracuse, St. Bonaventure, and Arizona State. All 11-seeds.

Syracuse deserved it way, way, way more than Arizona State.

I think ND and SU had a similar amount wins against teams in the Tourney beating 5 teams each in the Tourney. ND did beat SU head to head in the Dome, but, SU played a much tougher schedule (SOS=SU #19> ND #46) and had a much higher RPI (SU#45> ND #70 .

Looking at the schedules that the 2 teams played, I don't think one can clearly say that ND deserved to be in ahead of SU. They finished with the same conference record, but SU finished with a better overall record against much tougher competition according to the RPI. When those areas are considered it becomes a lot less clear and I would give the edge to Syracuse because of superior SOS, RPI and overall record.

Now if anyone should be complain should be Louisville fans because Louisville had a better RPI and SOS than SU.

I don't think you can dismiss the impact of Bonzie Colson. We saw what ND was like before he got hurt and what they were like after he returned. Had he been there in the middle of the season, I don't think there's any doubt they would have won more games. You can make a case for either team getting in, but I think ND with Colson is the more formidable opponent. I guess the question is, does ND deserve any special consideration, for having their best player out for that segment of the season when they struggled?

CUse is fine, they got the bid. ND really did not deserve it IMO.

ASU and Oklahoma were my "gripes" about getting in.

The NCAA is too big. Should have never expanded beyond 64. But since expansion did occur, the NCAA has to come up with 68 teams from somewhere.

So, fair enough --- that's how we get the 10th-place ACC team that went 9-11 in their own conference (this is ALSO a team with a recent history of breaking NCAA rules).

That sounds like a team that "deserves" a chance to play for a National Championship to me!

So using that logic...90% of the midmajors don't deserve either.

I think anyone who wins their conference in any sport should be invited to the National Championship tournament.

Syracuse, meanwhile --- they've done nothing to prove they are anything better than the 10th-best team in the ACC.

If a team cannot even finish among the top 60% in their own conference (I mean, that's not a tough standard here - we're just asking Syracuse to not be among the bottom 40% of their conference), why sohuld they receive an invite to a tournament that wants to determine the Nation's best team?

Seven years ago, in 2011, UConn finished tied for 10th in the Big East regular season, then proceeded to win the national title.

As "Texan" said, any team that is on the bubble has many flaws and a good case can be made to keep them out, Cuse included. But some bubble teams will make it, and this year Cuse just happened to be one of them. Any team left out that you propose should take their place could be picked over pretty good as well. So while it doesn't take much to rile me up about Syracuse, their entry in the tournament isn't anything to get upset about. Their resume wasn't outside the realm of the other bubble teams.

My only regret? With about three minutes left in their game this year, Georgetown had a winning margin over Syracuse, and then we choked it away, let them tie it, then win in overtime. Had we won, we not only would have had another win over our biggest rival, turns out we would have kept them out of the tournament as well. As it stands, it kinda burns me that their win over us can be looked at as getting them into the dance.

Cuse's 2016 team was probably the last P6 entry and made the F4.

The ACC yearly is arguably the top 1 or 2 conferences in hoops...#10 teams yearly out of the league are capable of winning a game or two...

Connecticut also won their conference tournament that year. They unequivocally EARNED their bid --- the Big East decided that year that their conference tournament winner would get the automatic bid, and that's what UConn did.

Meanwhile, in 2016 we had a Syracuse team that was 9-10 in conference play. This year's team was 9-11 in conference play. Neither team won a ACC tournament game, outside of a victory in 2018 against the ACC's #14 seed.

If you (1) cannot finish at least .500 in conference play, and (2) cannot earn your conference's automatic bid (however that conference decides to give that bid out) --- you shouldn't be in the tournament. IMO, teams that cannot do either (1) or (2) have not earned an NCAA bid.

Luckily for Syracuse and Syracuse fans, the NCAA --- which instead embraces regular season mediocrity ---- disagrees with me.
