Congratulations Villanova, Big East Champs!
Villanova finally subdues a fantastic effort by Providence in OT to win the Big East title before a raucous MSG crowd.

Great game, before a wildly enthusiastic sellout crowd. Still the best.

Yes. Hard to believe Providence was on the wrong side of the bubble just three days ago. They've almost surely played their way into the big dance.
The Big East at the Garden still has an aura.

Per a league release, tonight's BIG EAST title game at @TheGarden is SOLD OUT.
That means 3 of the 5 sessions sold out this year as the league averaged 18,789 fans per session, the best mark since the league reconfigured. Last year's tourney averaged 17,556

That's great news!
Truth is, the ACC and B1G tournaments did well, too, the ACC sold out sessions at Barclays. There's room for everyone in NYC, apparently.

great game. Lots of energy and noise at MSG. My friars still not getting the respect they deserve. A #10 seed from Lunardi. Really?

RE: Congratulations Villanova, Big East Champs!
In the 5 first years of the reorganized Big East, total viewing of the conference on FOX/FS1 has more than doubled to this year's 3+ billion minutes of viewing. Total viewing has grown in each of the last five years. The tournament viewing has doubled while the rest of CBB is down -16% across all networks. The conference has more exposure on national broadcast networks - 19 - than any other conference. That figure has also grown in every season of the conference.
Regardless of these figures, the most important aspect of the Big East is the fact the league carries a national champion (Villanova), 90% of the league has gone to the tournament in that time frame, the league averages half of its conference into the NCAA Tournament on a yearly basis, and the league has the potential to have two number one seeds later today.

Even haters would agree that the post-split Big East has been a smashing success.

I'm not trying to start anything but the American needs to rethink its plans for its tourney. Get a long term home in a city that will support the fans. Doesn't look like that answer is Orlando judging by what ive seen with the crowds. Memphis makes sense to me. Has the bars/restaurants & overall environment I went to MSG yesterday and not only was it packed but so were the bars and streets around it (and the trains coming in from the suburbs as well. although that was probably more due to schools playing. Villanova and Providence draw students from NYC area)

Agreed. UCF fans couldn't even show up in their own city for their game against Houston. Memphis would be a great fit.
