Man. You guys can’t resist a chance to be dicks about it. I didn’t state an opinion. You guys are clearly better than us when we don’t have our best guard and when we don’t have our best forward. We’re 1-0 when at full strength. And I’m very aware that the ‘1-0’ in question doesn’t mean a thing right now.

Can’t wait for Hunter/Simonds to melt down whenever their time is up.

Yes. It's pointless.
Nobody attends it. No real interest in it. It sends our most consistent teams to the NIT. I'm not sure what we are goining at this point.

Gives coaches a chance at the slot machine to steal a bid and take some heat off their chairs.

The 11 Southern fans that sat behind the bench were some of the finest from the fan base yelling and screaming obscenities throughout the game. One of the fans moved over to the State section to curse at the refs at the very end....Then proceeds to mouth off at the security guard.

After a true foul differential of ~10 what on Earth is there to complain about?!?

Anyhow onto the championship!

Early estimates for the crowd tomorrow for UTA/GSU. Over/Under is probably 100

Boom.

Anyway, the ownage continues. Loser's mentality to harp on who wasn't playing.

That kid's absence alone doesn't account for the atrocious interior defense your team decided to play in the first half. Simonds played terrible and was in foul trouble all game, fouling out eventually (credit goes to GS for defending him, yes), and you couldn't capitalize on taking him away. Isaiah Williams won this game for us.

Oh, and if you don't want us to be dicks, don't openly invite us to be dicks by whining about injuries after you lose=)

I hear what you're saying. GS lacks proper depth. Sounds like a problem for Coach Byington

I hope Georgia Southern gets into one of the two other tournaments and shows out. It's good for their program and good for the Belt. It's good for the Belt that GSU and Georgia Southern are both good, with dynamic lead players, and we play great games.

Yes. Precisely. A guy shooting poorly and getting himself into foul trouble is exactly the same as having to adjust your lineup 24 hours before the tournament.

You Southern guys are great at digging yourselves holes after your many, many losses to our sports teams. You make it way too easy. You're getting into TrueBlewDrew territory, man!

Yikes, with today's win it's 11.5 to 1.5. Brutal, just brutal...isn't it great when your rival creates made-up competitions you can dominate them in? I hope we keep it going for all time.

Given past history, I’d have to say Georgia State is the favorite tomorrow. UTA is 1-4 in tourney championship games. The lone win was in 2008 as UTA won 82-79 over Northwestern St. The losses: 1982, Louisiana 81 - UTA 75 / 1991, ULM 87 - UTA 60 / 1998, Nichols St 84 - UTA 81 & 2013 New Mexico St 64 - UTA 55.

They've got that dance down:

Step 1: Lose to GSU
Step 2: Make excuses
Step 3: Point to lower-division title flags (football) or all-time head-to-head record (basketball)
Step 4: Start thread about football recruiting and forget it all happened until the next loss to GSU

Rinse and repeat.

Way to come back and make it close, Southern. I hope y'all get the chance to keep playing.

Looking forward to facing UTA tomorrow. Hope we can keep Neal in check!

Like that time we won the tournament (against southern) and an NCAA tournament game while one of our record setting starters was out the whole time (after being injured by Southern in the final regular season game?). You get no sympathy from me. Your team couldn't win, hence you're out. That's how it works.

Man, all this losing is obviously affecting the Southern fan base. I've never seen such fragility.
