RE: NIT?
I hope we can get in the NIT. The players and coaches both want to get in. It couldn't hurt our exposure.

The only thing to make the NIT palatable would be a match-up with VCU at The Ted. Anything else and I'm not interested.

Oh yes and one more thing. Jeff Jones' continued employment is determined by the outcome.

RE: NIT?
No...if MTSU does not get an at large. If they do...50/50. We have beat nobody of significance this year and we have a poor SOS / RPI.

If WKU wins it we get in

RE: NIT?
Here is a rough calculation for the NIT. It is a crap shoot depending if the conference champions below hold serve and not more than one of them lose.

Automatics (chumps who choked in tournaments and stole NIT bids):

1. Northern Kentucky
2. Wagner
3. FGCU
4. UNC Asheville

Locks:

5. Temple
6. UCF
7. Davidson
8. Notre Dame
9. Boston College
10. Okla. State
11. Baylor
12. Marquette
13. Indiana
14. Maryland
15. Penn State
16. Nebraska
17. Stanford
18. Washington
19. Arizona State
20. LSU
21. Georgia
22. Mississippi State
23. Memphis
24. BYU
25. New Mexico
26. Fresno State
27. Wyoming
28. UNLV

Bubble for Last 4 In (assuming MTSU is in NCAA, if not, bumps one of these):

29. Northeastern
30. Buffalo / Toledo (whoever doesn't win)
31. ODU
32. Belmont

If one of these lose their tournaments, they bump a bubble:

33. Vermont
34. WKU
35. Louisiana Lafayette
36. Montana
36. UC Davis
37. Arkansas Pine Bluff
38. Hampton
39. SE Louisiana

I looked at multiple projection sites that accounted for yesterday’s results and nearly all of them had ODU in as a 5 or 6 seed .. I agree we are bubble that will certainly burst if a few of the conference winners loose today ..

RE: NIT?
Even if ODU gets in, I don’t see a home game in the cards. If they do make it, best they could hope for would be a road game at Maryland or Davidson. Both are close enough, but would our fans travel to either arena?

If I could make it work with my schedule, I’d consider going to Maryland, Davidson, Penn State, Indiana, maybe even BC for a game.

You have a greater tolerance for pain than I. The way we have been playing down the stretch... poorly against WKU x2, FAU, and LT and so so against Marshall, I just can't do it. Nothing worse than a long drive after a loss, which 95% would happen against any of those teams and maybe 60% against Davidson. If we start playing well again in the first couple of rounds, I may make such a trip if the Final Four is on the line, but more likely would wait and make the trip to NY if we got there.

RE: NIT?
I guess I have a different perspective. We shot the ball poorly in Texas in arena where everyone has been shooting poorly. We played FAU without Caver, who clearly is the one who gets us going. We got steamrolled at WKU in a packed house on a senior night (this was a poor performance, but it was just one of those games). We beat Marshall in front of a packed house on their court. Sure, we didn’t blow them out, but I thought we were better than so-so in that game. It’s not like they are a bad team.

Conveniently, you went back to the road trip at Marshall and WKU, rather than the home stand against the Texas teams and didn’t mention the FIU game in our recent play.

Moreover, if I want to complain about a poor schedule (I do and it is justified), I think it would be a bit hypocritical of me if I didn’t try to at least support my guys, if I can, when we have a game against a good team.

I left out the previous road trip because we haven't been the same since then. We lost our mojo and that was evident in the Marshall game, even though we pulled it out. What I'm talking about is the chemistry. We had it and now it is gone. We played well in 1 out of the last 6 games (FIU). We went from a well oiled machine with passing, and terrific movement without the ball and reverted back to the stand around and watch strategy. Disappointing.

Listen, I’m disappointed, too, but it would seem you cherry picked games to fit your narrative, and I’m not convinced your observations are completely correct. Further, even if the observations correct, why don’t our opponents get any credit?

How did we not play well beating a borederline top 100 team at their house in front of a lively crowd? Thats dumb.

That would explain shooting (site lines and crowd noise). We actually didn't even shoot that poorly there. It does not explain the change in offensive strategy from all motion and multiple passes to standing around. It has been amiss since that game.

What changed is teams doubled Porter and Haynes and Stith missed shots.

Hard to get into a rhythm when you arent taking open shots. Hard to get open shots when you are standing around. That is the difference.
