I love Vegas and it shouldn't move in any other situation, but I like UVU having the chance to get an autobid more.

There is not guarantee that UMKC would stay if we let them host the tournament. UMKC is looking at cost factors. They joined because they thought their basketball team would have an easier time getting to the NCAA tournament. They were also tired of not being able to host the Summit League's tournament, which would be hosted by the the regular season champion of their conference.

The WAC is a conference of convenience. Every school is looking for something better.

Also the WCC conference would take the WAC spot the weekend before the NCAA Tourney. Big Sky and Big West are also interested in in LV for their tournaments.

It doesn't solve that the Big West or Big Sky are not interested in UVU. Though for UMKC other than some decent geographic rivalries and a little less travel cost, The Summit League isn't all that much better than the WAC, plus they've had their tournament in Sioux Falls for a number of years so unless they were offering a concession to UMKC.

Local news in Sioux Falls is talking about UMKC announcing tomorrow that they are going to be joining the Summit League. They are also saying that it is likely Augustana SD will be making the move shortly. Source: NBC Sports Radio 98.1 Sioux Falls.

Pretty big deal, if true. Should we get this on the big board for more eyes, mods?

I think the news might be jumping the gun.

Quote:An additional aspect of positive change is the reorganization of the staffing structure. The department is in the midst of hiring a Deputy AD for External Relations and a Marketing Manager. The plan is to have both positions hired by Jan. 1. Related to staffing, the University will make a significant staff announcement on Wednesday, November 14 at 10 a.m. in Swinney Auditorium. This event is open to the public and this special announcement will propel UMKC forward into the future.

No one on twitter or any of the Summit team boards have mentioned it. For whatever reason their report has flown off the radar.

I feel like it be better for UMKC to rejoin same with Chicago State. If Augustana joins it be pretty big for the Summit. Even though South Dakota State is "The Man " in that conference. I think North Dakota could give the Jackrabbits a run in a few years.

Maybe they jumped the gun. That’s what they were saying so I thought I would put it over here.

It was worth posting. Would’ve been a huge breakthrough if they were right

It is talk ever since they lost IUPUI to the Horizon League. Chicago State can't join them because of ill.-Chicago being there.

Well it's hard to be wrong when you bet on every horse in the race.

And here is a little gem from post #11 in this thread where David actually tries to claim he did not predict UMKC to the Summit.

At that time, it was nothing but chatter. I never claimed it here, but in another thread on the realignment board that UMKC and Augustana to the Summit.
