WHAT ABOUT FIRED COACHES?
Sometimes things just do not work out at a particular school for some very good coaches. Eddie Sutton didn't make it at Kentucky, but he did pretty well at OSU after that, just to name one - and there are a lot of examples.

Mark Fox - Georgia. I would take him in a heartbeat. Getting a program going at any SEC school that is thinking more about spring football this time of the year is a tough job.

Andy Kennedy - Ole Miss. I would not be for this one, but he can coach, and might be a home run hire in LR.

Marty Wilson - I know nothing about him, but the WCC is just a brutal place to coach if you are not named Gonzaga, St. Mary's or BYU. I would not assume that failure there necessarily indicates a bad coach.

But if Chasse got ripped and ripped for not doing a full search before hiring Wes, how is the situation with Walker any different? Yes, he does have some head coaching experience, but has not coached at all (or recruited) at the D1 level. If Wes was a de facto bad hire because of the process, how is Walker any different if he is the anointed selection, even if we did do a full search?

And, by the way, Walker's career pro record was 56-113. (He has had a successful college stint.)

Chris Beard had not coached or recruited at The D1 level but he did pretty good at Little Rock and TTech.

Beard was 47-15 at Angelo State.
Walker is 45-18 at Clark Atlanta.

I was not one that criticized Chasse on the Flanigan hire, but if the process was wrong once, one would assume it is wrong again.
I have no opposition to Walker particularly. (Not that my opinion matters at all.)

From what I've heard, no one will be anointed, and a full search will be conducted. Chase is a smart guy and has learned his lesson on that one. And even though Walker appears to have support from some serious money people, he will have to go through the process like every other potential choice.

I have always liked the idea of a retread who has proved he can when big on our level and for whatever reason didn't make it at the big time level. Fox would be a good example- but like you suggested, he may well land at a level somewhat above the Sun Belt. He does present as a class individual and I hope we give him a look.

I figure he recruited at TTech, because generally all assistants are involved in recruiting.

My opinion doesn't matter at all either. Chasse withstood pressure to hire Walker last time. He will this time as well, if needed, and hire who he believes it is the best coach for our program.

Whatever other pressure may be on Chasse, I figure the biggest one this time is pressure on himself to show that he can make a good hire.

Anyone want to guess how long this process will take?

Petersonisaclown is in the know. I would be very surprised if it's Walker. Wouldn't completely rule it out, but it does appear unlikely at this point in time.

Maybe he knows Darrell was a sore loser the last time he was a finalist.

And sore losers don't project the kind of image you want for the University. Not to mention what I hear were very intemperate things said about the guy and the outfit that you again want to hire you.
