Xavier has another end of the game altercation

St. X grad here. I had a strong affinity for XU when I was in high school and didn't have a deep disdain for them even during my time at UC (despite the rivarly). My deep distaste developed sometime after Matta left and it seemed they took a turn with the players they recruit and their fanbase becoming increasingly ugly.

My sons went to St.X. They have never had any love for XU. They know the history of the Catholics vs Convicts, F UC and the racial slurs towards the UC players in the early 90s.

The XU fans that they went to grade school with were total dbags calling our house in the wee hours of the morning after the shootout if Eggs won. The UC fans at their grade school never did the same...total utter little brother syndrome.

The XU fanbase has been ugly for 30 years. Timing of the ugly right along with Bob Huggins arrival. XU didn't want UC to steal their spotlight locally.

The X fanbase has also gotten worse as the school has changed enrollment from a lot of local kids to a bunch of suburban Indy/Chicago d-bags who couldn't get into Notre Dame

A lot of it is just envy. Xavier may have shown growth as a basketball program over the years, but UC has grown into a multifaceted academic powerhouse that has completely eclipsed xu in every way that really counts.

So true. The true purposes of a university is to educate and research. In these two areas UC simply dwarfs XU. Anything beyond these two areas is peripheral. All collegiate sports are peripheral as much as we love and support them.
