Anything can happen...I voted Cincy but UConn actually brings a lot of positives.

Texas isn't a practical exercise. Can't see stretching the conference out to Texas unless it basically becomes a looser association of 20 teams (4 Pods of 5)

Notre Dame won’t join. But if they did:
ACC North: Cuse, sPitt, BC, Cincinnati, Ville, ND, VD, and Virginia
ACC South: UNCheat, NCSU, Dook, Wack, Clemson, GT, FSU and Miami Dolphins

And yet, they're already 5/8 of the way there.

5/12 of ND’s games will be vs the ACC the next two seasons.
4/12 two different seasons and worse, sometimes the ACC return “home” game is at a neutral site.

Does that matter? Neither Notre Dame nor Louisville (or even Pitt/Cuse for that matter) are coastal.

Billy: you're making an apples/oranges comparison! 5 teams out of 8, v. 4 games out of 12. Don't be so disingenuous.

WVU. They have the most complete athletic department and have at least 3 legit rivalries ready to go.

Many people don't know that Texas and the ACC had discussions last round of expansion.

Not seeing ND joining anytime soon. But my guesses

1. Navy will get the offer for football only but will they be willing to share Army/Navy home game money, move to ACC TV deal and no longer play Army/Navy after the CCG?

2. If not Navy, a Texas school would be the 16th team. If B12 dissolves, the ACC will make a play Texas to partner with ND. Then move onto TCU or Baylor. If no B12 team, SMU or Houston.

West Virginia. Things change in due time.

Geograhically, athletically, and filling a facility; the better #16 match.

Hold your breath until that happens, Lance.05-stirthepot

ND isn't going to change its status, which is contractually locked in until 2036.

I agree with this.

In fact ... it is the ONLY way this will happen.

Texas going "independent" would trump A & M's move to the SEC. Which is a big deal for the power brokers in Austin. They can't look like they are following what College Station did. But doing what Notre Dame did? Well ... that's rarified air. Placing their other sports in the ACC would be a win. Associating their academics with some of the academic powers in the ACC would be a win. East coast exposure along with the state of Texas would be a win for both Texas and the ACC.

And since the ACC has talked to Texas before ... I think keeping this door open -- even if a gigantic long shot -- will be something the league does. Getting access to the markets in Texas with the flagship school no less is an intoxicating idea.

And let's be honest ..... Notre Dame ain't joining before 2036. I doubt they'll ever join. But never is a long time. So I won't say that.

You mentioned 3 wins that Texas would receive from getting a ND type deal, placing their other sports in the ACC, associating their academics with the academic powers of the ACC and east coast exposure. Texas would also receive those benefits as full time members of the ACC and a lot more. But Texas AINT Notre Dame. Not even close.

And there"s nothing about Texas that they should get any better deal than an FSU or even a Miami, two programs who actually spent most of their existence as independents. While Texas has spent most of its existence as part of a conference. Someone needs to explain to me why the ACC would be desperate enough to give Texas such a deal. This type of deal wasnt on the table when Texas flirted with the ACC before, and the ACC is in a much more solid position today.

The ACC might do something like that to prevent Texas from falling into the hands of the Big Ten. If the Longhorns are inclined to join the Pac-12, that's fine. If they want to join the SEC, even that probably wouldn't motivate the ACC to offer a partial deal (they'd just grab up the choicest Big XII teams remaining after Texas & partners leave). The Big Ten created some bad feelings by sneaking around and stealing Maryland, and I think the ACC would go to fairly great lengths to hit them back.

However, I doubt it comes to that. I suspect JrSEC is correct and ESPN will try to broker a deal that places Big XII teams in either the ACC or SEC before the GoR expires. We'll see.

My take on this is:

1) Notre Dame will stay independent in football.

2) UConn is not want by any ACC team!

3) If the ACC adds a 15th and 16th football team, they will be Cincinnati and West Virginia.

While UConn may not be the very top of the list, I wouldn't think that every ACC school would be opposed to their entry. Granted, there may be bad blood over past legal issues with the raiding of the Big East, but Pitt and initially VT were also part of the lawsuit (as was WVU).

UConn's biggest problem is that its football sucks. Cincinnati's isn't all that much better, but with their good hoops it's probably enough to put them at the top of the list (after ND of course, but that's a given). WVU is a better athletic package than either, but their academics go against them.

Memphis has no chance. Temple even less so.
