Quarterfinals discussion
Quarters are set:

Texas St vs Louisiana
App St vs UTA
Troy vs Ga St
ULM vs GS

Best chance for a top 4 seed to lose? My vote goes to Ga St followed closely by GS

Definitely Georgia State most likely to get upset I think.

if we lose to Troy (again), we have no business going to the NCAA tourney anyway. No excuses

We played UTA well both times, but fell apart late in both games. Still managed to get a season split.

Depends on if Hervey and/or Neal show up.

Troy just went 3-0 against USA on the season. If they go 3-0 against Georgia State too, I'll be very impressed.

RE: Quarterfinals discussion
UTA/ GS/ Ga State probably about have an equal shot at losing (with Ga State maybe shading it because Troy is playing so well).

The Cajuns the least likely because of the quality of the hoops that they have been playing

I'd say Southern or UTA are the most ripe. I do not see Troy beating GSU 3 times in one season. That's not easy to do against anyone, much less someone with GSU's talent.

I really like ULM to beat Southern. I just like that matchup for the Warhawks...

RE: Quarterfinals discussion
My analysis is the same as it has been all season.

With the exception of maybe 1-2 games, GS plays good enough defense to not lose games. And Tookie Brown is enough to keep us a factor, yet not enough to guarantee a win because of the flakiness of the rest of the offense.

On off days, we can get way behind and never have a chance. On most days, we’re a shade better than opponents, but unable to put them away and always playing close games.

But please, oh please, give me three days of stock Tookie/defensive effort, combined wits some combination of Hughes clutch shots, Allsmiller heating up from long range, or Ike spacing out and going for 20-10. Not banking on it to happen, but the potential is there and we can hang with anyone when everything clicks.

I wonder how big of underdogs we are. I think we'd probably lose 10/10 games vs the Cajuns..

Agree. I've been uneasy about a rematch with them ever since I saw the bracket. On a neutral court, I don't think we will win.

Most likely to get upset:
1. Georgia State
2. Georgia Southern
3. UTA
4. Louisiana

I'd still say GSU is a 2:1 favorite though.

What's the benefit of getting a higher seed if everyone gets a break before the next round anyways? Stupid.

Easier to reel off 3 straight than 4, but yeah I'm sure the top 4 seeds would rather play today.

Day off is a byproduct of cramming the men's and women's tournament into 6 days at the same venue.

so.....I've been thinking about this for awhile...what is the point of the regular season if everyone gets to participate in the SBC tournament? Top 6 team format with #1 & #2 seed bye is short and sweet imo.

The coaches insist on all teams going if there is not a couplete double round robin regular season. Since a 22 conference game regular season isn t happening I guess we are stuck with all 12 going to the tourney.

I would like to see just 6 or 8 at the most but it won t happen

Not to toot my own horn here, but opening lines:
GSU -3.5
GS -4.5
UTA -5.5
UL -11.5

Participation Ribbons all around. . . .

. . . you know how important that is to a kid's self esteem . . .

Hope I'm wrong.
