Maybe. But his job is to sell it. Maybe he will refuse and quit like he did UAB

Glad he did because he made Watts become the face of evil and that played a HUGE role in helping get the program back.

Conference gets what they deserve. May not have been supported as well in Birmingham as would be liked, but at least it was a central-ish location and a pretty darn good venue overall. Attendance will not be great in Texas. And this venue may be nice but it is not a basketball venue. I always said that the haters of Birmingham needed to see something like this in order to appreciate the tournament in Birmingham. Hopefully the city will move forward on renovations to the BJCC because I have a feeling the tournament will likely be back here soon.

"Fans will enjoy the experience of watching a golf tournament while at a conference basketball tournament:
Low scores
Generally quiet
Eruptions of cheers from the crowds watching something you can't see from where you are.

@ConferenceUSA basketball....changing the game!"

Is this Court A or Court B? The larger set of risers look like floor seats at the final 4 for students. If one person stands up, everyone must stand.

Mackin played his hand perfectly at the end. He may have effed if up until then, but I doubt it.

His ending at UaB is akin to the Bugs Bunny Elevator Maneuver, where he sets of right before it hits bottom and the other guy takes all the damage.

That's what happens when you bring a tops of 2k to a tournament. Looks like about what it should look like.

I hope this is like the Bahamas Bowl. I want to be able to walk in with a case of beer and no ticket and high five players on the sideline.

Real Talk: Scheduling the home team for 11 a.m. on a weekday was a big factor for the poor attendance in Birmingham. That and UAB's poor performance.

Oh yeah, and Birmingham's lack of interest in mediocre mid-tier basketball.

The ticket pricing was also bad, and the event promotion was terrible.

Yada, yada, yada...

We're stuck with playing there again next year. I look for the conference to try moving it to a neutral court that is more centrally located next. Memphis or Nashville maybe.

After four or five years of mediocre crowds at neutral venues maybe the light will dawn and they'll put it back in one of the towns of conference members.

I don't think Memphis is an option. No local interest and Fedex Forum would require Grizzlies to agree to go on the road for an extended road trip. They previously agreed to it with Tigers in the conference, but doubtful they would for CUSA. They seem to be more focused on hosting NCAA tournaments now.

One option might be the Desoto Civic Center in Southaven, MS. Seats 8500. Proximity to Memphis and the Tunica Casinos. Also centrally located.

Hewitt Trussville Arena would have been an improvement over what we have now.

Watched some of the Women's games. Other than no one there didn't look bad on tv. They added seating behind the baskets on the floor like last year.

I was just watching and the band was playing during the other game's timeout all through play of the game I was watching. So stupid.

With the level of support the Tigers have for basketball right now, I don't even think they could get the AAC tournament at FedEx Forum.

Tuned in to the USM-FIU game.

That place is nearly EMPTY!

I don't know if it is the production quality or what, but the USM-FIU game looks like the lighting is uneven. The upper part of the court onscreen is brighter than the lower part of the court.

Other than that, it looks OK on TV. Sound quality sucks though.

The "Court A" and "Court B" makes this dumb idea sound even more second rate. If there was anyone awake in the conference office (Hello Mackin), Why didn't they sell some sponsorship and call Court A the Papa Joes Pizza court and Court B the Ernie's Fillerup station Court. It would sound a little more big time and make the conference a little more money.

Has anyone noticed one broadcast is louder than the other, or is it just me?

It's a good thing they put those extra seats behind the goals, people might not have been able to get in otherwise
