Game Week: Cleveland
Put all the Cleveland jokes aside, Cleveland is where they want to be and until Saturday night.

Tourney starts in around 12 hours. Think it is going to be fun.

RE: Game Week: Cleveland
Took this from the main board - Ken Pom MAC tournament projections:

We have the 3rd best chance to win the tournament per their system. As you can see, Buffalo is they heavy favorite. They give us a 62% chance to win our QF game and advance to the semis.

You can see how much of an advantage the 1st round bye gives. 5th place has a 20% chance to get to the semis, and 6th place 31%, while 1st-4th place has at worst a 62% chance.

Remember I doubt most of these computer systems take into account recency effdct.

UofM and EMU are red hot now. Oakland is not. BSU is not.

Never to CLE.

CLE started after our last great team.

I think the format used to be top 8 teams make the tournament with first round played at home sites, then semifinals and finals played at tournament site (during my time watching it was the sea gate center in Toledo, I believe). Last good team we had was 97/98 when Boykins/Dial were seniors and made the tournament. Interestingly, EMU actually was a 4th seed in the MAC tournament and had to beat Toledo on a buzzer beater during the last game of the season to get the home game for the first round. This was back when the MAC was really good (had multiple bid that year between EMU and WMU and many felt that Bonzi Wells Ball St team got robbed without an invite). So I would not compare that 4 seed to this years 3 seed. But this is the first time EMU has been this high since.

Elijah Minnie won his 2nd straight MAC West POTW award. Well-deserved, at that!

Hoping he can somehow sneak into 1st team All-MAC. If the season was weighed on the last 9 games, he would be a no-brainer.

When do the Conference awards get announced? Usually during the week of the tournament I thought.

Looks like Defensive POTY, Freshman OTY, and Sixth-Man OTY will be announced tomorrow.

I assume Player and Coach of the year will be announced Wednesday.

Are we #1 and 2 in defensive POY?

After Western was up 18-2, Akron storms back and is only down 27-21 late in the 2nd half.

Crazy finish in Kent. German missed a FT with 7 seconds left, and Zabo on Kent made the game winning layup at the buzzer. March basketball is the best.

Not sure if I'd rather play WMU or Akron. The Zips are hitting some crazy shots, and WMU looks like they'd rather be anywhere else. I think our zone will frustrate the hell out of Akron again. They aren't very big.

EMU matches up well with Akron. As long as we show up and play focused we should beat them.

WMU was up by 23 in the middle of the first half. Now they're losing by 7. A 30 point swing. Choke.

Now 9. Akron is wrecking WMU in this 2nd half. Broncos look completely lost on defense, and Wilder is trying to do way too much. Bizarre game.
