How many on here are heading to Cleveland this weekend? I will be there Friday and Saturday if we take care of Akron.

Good to hear. I plan on driving myself, sounds like the bus is leaving at 4:00.

I will probably go on Saturday if we make the finals. Would love to be there Friday too, but it's either a long drive from Washington or I'm hoping on a plane. That's a lot just for the semis.

Just bought my Friday and Saturday tickets. Going on the bus. Cheaper than driving as bus ride part of ticket. Drop off at The Q, no parking. Sleep on way home and hopefully do it next day for Championship.

If you've already got tix then our team better get to the finals. Hate to see you not get a return on the investment.

EMU ruins his senior night, then they follow that up with a loss to CMU, which gives him one more shot at winning at home but they are upset by Akron. Well I guess he is not the first to have this happen to themselves...

I like Sam’s explanation of how well we match against Akron. Go EMU!!!

Sam has a damned good analysis of the matchup and truly one would have to think we are in a pretty good position to get to the semis. WMU collapsed late season and yes Wilder deserved better.

Playing against John Groce, however, is somewhat disconcerting. His history indicates that he fares well in post season tournaments with Ohio and to a lesser degree Illinois. When they played us at the Convo earlier this year I regarded our win as a "nothing burger" over a decimated program. That game left them 1-4 in the conference at the time, but since then they have 5-8 and are riding a two game win streak. We cannot look past them.

Ticket office said they will refund if they don't win. I'm planning on seeing them win it ALL.

Any chance Miami upsets Toledo tomorrow night? We dominated the RedHawks both times we played them. I think that's an even better match up for us if we beat Akron.

I had the same thought. I think that is a potential upset.

EMU needs to focus 100% on Akron first. We don't play well enough to take anyone for granted.

Absolutely. Any decent coaching staff has the team totally focused on tomorrow's game. I'm sure the staff is pouring over video from our first game with Akron.

Toledo only beat Miami (granted, in Oxford) by 6, despite the Redhawks going 4-27 from three.

It's not completely out of the realm of possibility, because of how well Miami defends, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Let's hope it goes to double OT.

Sam, no 2OT, wouldn't that mean our game starts even later in the evening?

Let's hope for a Miami upset and that we take care of Akron.

Amen. Murphy has done well in the past to get his boys ready for the tournament. Akron won't have a lot of time to prepare for the zone, either.

I hope I'm not jinxing us (as I knock profusely on my wooden desk), but this is a dream matchup. Akron starts 3 guards, a stocky 6'6 forward, and a 6'11 slow-footed center. They made their huge run against WMU with Daniel Utomi (the aforementioned 6'6 forward) as the tallest guy on the court, and quite often play with 4 guards.

Naturally, they jack up a ton of threes. Only CMU has attempted more in conference play. Generally, when that is your gameplan against us, it plays right into our hands. It's not easy to make threes when you have 6'1, 6'9, 6'7, and 6'9 sticking long arms in your face. They had some nice backdoor cuts against a non-existent WMU defense, but those won't work as often against us, and will be block-fodder if they do.

When we have the ball, I expect Thompson and Minnie to both get as many feeds as possible in the post. If they want to throw 4 guard lineups at us, bury them inside. Thompson should have no less than 12 shot attempts tomorrow night.

If we take care of the ball and get our post players touches around the rim, it should be an easy victory. But if we turn the ball over and Akron gets hot, it could be interesting. I just think our defense will be too much for them.
