Nobody contesting the throw in....everybody play back with no defensive pressure at Mid court....I questioned that strategy but I’m not an expert

Wasn't an inbound. Kent got the ball on rebound and drove. Defense didn't recover and allowed Zabo to penetrate. Monte said on post game that they would have called timeout if free throw was made to set up a better defense. Players gotta play though and there's no excuse for not stopping ball. I'm proud of how they played but disappointed at the defense at the end. This one stings.

Is Monty fired yet?!?! Too soon?

Or another way to look at what happened, it was No. 1 on last night's Sportscenter Top 10 plays. In answer to ChicagoHuskie's earlier question, ESPN obviously believed it was a great play by the opponent and hats off to them.......or if Herbs---t was asked to weigh in, "NIU? oh it was a complete defensive breakdown."

RE: Tournament time (one and done or on to Cleveland?)
I was at the women's game last night (and am just getting over my suicidal depression). There were only 294 at the game, and I could have caught up on my sleep.

I know it was a post-season game, but I thought there would be a little more hoopla for a tournament game. This game had the same feel as an exhibition game. There was no recorded player introductions that they have before every game. There was no halftime entertainment, not even the Silverettes (who were there). There was just absolutely nothing at the half. There were none of the games that they usually have at breaks. I'm not being critical; I'm just trying to figure out why. Is it because there was no time to plan? Or, is it because all promotion contractual commitments end at the end of the season? It was just really weird.

Every time I watch a MAC game I think the same thing. It also makes me that much more frustrated that NIU cannot seem to rise to the top of such a weak league. The MAC needs one or two teams to really elevate their programs to that next level to bring some cred to the league. All of the other mid major peer leagues have those programs.

I wish NIU would make the investment to become that team. It’s not like you have to unseat a Wichita or Gonzaga type to be that team in the MAC. A program like Middle Tennessee in CUSA would be a good example. I am a huge football supporter but am starting to think building a dominant mid-major hoops program would be a worthwhile investment.
