If the E.U. wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S. They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!

The United States has an $800 Billion Dollar Yearly Trade Deficit because of our “very stupid” trade deals and policies. Our jobs and wealth are being given to other countries that have taken advantage of us for years. They laugh at what fools our leaders have been. No more!

Democrat globalist America haters are gonna squeal like little piglets.

LOL, Ok, so lets just have VW shut down the Chattanooga plant and say its because Trump did it. Then we can have Suburu close a plant in Indiana as well. And BMW in South Carolina. Trump is so damn dumb. He's just opening himself up to targeted political sanctions that will turn his base against him. This is going to get ugly for Trump and his supporters, and fast.

BTW, how do you think the Stock Market is going to respond to Trump's little tweet?

Don't worry, us rich Globalists won't be impacted at all by Trump's little temper tantrum on trade.

You do realize that cars produced in the U.S. aren't imports, don't you?

Yes, but they export cars outside the USA too. Disruptions will cause a reduction in the people willing to invest here, will make it harder for companies to export vehicles made here outside the USA, and will make it more expensive for manufacturers here to procure inputs.

that's all that needed to be said....

this one in isolation is an inflation 'factory' waiting to happen while weakening the USD along the way....

the initial benchmark is a mistake....the amount of jobs created will be minimal from this.....pricing will now increase to the next point of 'law of diminishing'....

this is where the dems win with 'rich only get richer' line of thinking....

I don't believe it....a hardcore socialist lib actually made a valid conservative economic argument.....first one I've seen in my 3 yrs. posting on this board....

Wonder if the tariffs are really something he wants to do or a negotiating tactic.

I see tom is trying to make another prediction.... someone remind him how that has turned out for him in the past. I am still dead from the world ending after Brexit, or the Paris Climate accord that we pulled out, and from the stock market crashing... did I miss anything else?

Its not going to work. Mexico and Canada cannot be seen as helping Trump in any way. Meaning that if it results in Trump claiming a victory, its going to be ruinous for any political leader engaging in it.

Guys, Trump isn't playing 3D chess. He simply wanted to do two things 1) Try to wipe the avalanche of bad news off the front pages and 2) try to prevent a Democrat winning next Tuesday in a +20R Pennsylvania CD that has a large steel/coal workforce, low levels of highly educated voters, few minorities, and where the Republicans are outspending the Democrat by 10 to 1 (in other words, just about the most favorable district for a Trumper imaginable). .

So he, upon the advice of his C list advisors, threw out this idiotic tariff proposal, justifying it risibly on 'national security' (no national security threat exists). When his team advisors was told that 'guys - this could really hurt autoworkers' (while his moronic Commerce Secretary was out there holding up a can of soup), he then floated more sanctions as a response. Remember, with Trump and the C team, there's always time to take a bad decision and make it worse.

All this whole issue reflects is an idiotic President with some really poorly informed and stupid advisors, furiously trying to 'wing it' with the nations economy. This isn't going to end well folks.

Brexit is not going well in the UK, the sea levels are still rising, and the stock market has run out of steam. Right now all that's holding it up is the fact that most companies are taking their 'tax cut' and rather than investing it or spending it on higher wages, but rather are simply engaging in stock buybacks. That will cause the stock market to be higher than it would otherwise be, but that is TEMPORARY. Investment of that money into the firms would presumably draw future returns. Paying workers more could grow the economy through economic expansion. But by and larger, that's not happening. Just higher bonuses at the top and a LOT of stock buybacks going on. All at great expense to the US government deficit. Heck his plan is so dumb that it could result in BOTH inflation and lower growth at the same time. But like most economic plans, these usually take 18 months or so to shake out.

I think the latter.

He tossed out the thought with the Chinese solar panels deal, booom!!! They suddenly decide to drop some bbs of $’s and build a plant here.

May well be testing the waters/ pushing the envelope here as well.

Anyone else ‘member the “He wants to dissolve NATO?” silliness? I ‘member.

How’d that work out?

A European car company merged with an US car company. All Trump is doing is hurting the car companies and lost of jobs here in the US. Our American businesses and factories have been closely tied to Canada and western Europe for a long time before we became a country.

You mean like 98% and the landslide?

Or Trumps impeachment, president Pence appoints/picks H> as Veep, then Pence steps down cause “It’s the right thing to do”?

Those type “predictions” from the lunatic fringe?

When does the Cank ascend the throne?!?
