Porter off to a slow start
At 13:18 in the first half, Loyola only has 2 points.

Loyola wins. Now 26-5. Every win from here on out is a personal record for Porter.

Only twice have the Ramblers won more than 26 games: in 1963 when they won the national championship and in 1985 when they went to the Sweet 16.

Porter now 28-5 and going to the Dance. I suspect they will be on the list of little guys no one wants to play.

RE: Porter off to a slow start
NBC says Loyola is likely headed for a 12-seed, which will make them a trendy upset pick.

If you don’t count CCNY, which dropped to Division III in 1963, Loyola has the fewest-ever NCAA tournament appearances for a program that owns a national championship. The Ramblers won the 1963 NCAA tournament, defeating Duke in the semifinals and Cincinnati in the title game, and made the field in three of the next five years before a 17-year hiatus and their return to the Big Dance in 1985, which was their last appearance.

CBS
SOUTH
No. 11 Loyola Chicago Ramblers
First up: No. 6 Miami. Then possibly: No. 3 Tennessee.
This is a case of a really strong team being put on a double digit line. The Ramblers were rightfully treated well by the committee. With a 28-5 record, including a win at Florida, Porter Moser's team plays slow and has solid size. It also shoots well from 3. Miami is shorthanded without its best player, Bruce Brown, and fits Loyola's style. That game matches up as one of the best of the first round.
If Loyola wins, it could play the third-seeded Volunteers, who frankly have a similar profile to Miami. The Vols are a good team but definitely beatable. Loyola's Marques Townes, Clayton Custer and Aundre Jackson are a terrific three-man force. You'll enjoy watching this team.
