RE: Cinderella Team
There is no better fan than jmudukes. She was there again this year cheering hard and waving her Pom Poms. She stays positive and roots no matter what. Maybe there is a lesson in that for all of us?

By the way, did you all know Zac Jacobs is the son of two JMU grads? I knew Chris at JMU. He played football for the Dukes and roomed with basketball player Steve Blackmon. Chris is a really nice guy. I got to speak with he and his wife this weekend. Makes me want to root for Zac even more.

Horrible officiating at the JMU game. The one ref who called the tripping foul on Lewis and also the blocking foul on Joey in the second hal should not be officiating college basketball. There must be a tremendous shortage of officials when a guy that inept is allowed to officiate a college game. He is the worst official I have seen since the formation of the game of basketball by one Mr. Naismith.

I'm pretty sure that's the same ref that was involved in our Senior Night debacle, absolutely terrible in the game as well. So bad that I considered writing to the league about him, something I've never considered doing in my life (well, at least not considered to the point where I actually started writing).

For someone who stays positive (wish I always had that much faith) she didn't mind backhanding another poster. A simple comment of, "I say this team is ready" would have sufficed. Adding "Who are you to say" didn't sit well with me and it could be just as easily been turned around on her and stated, "who are you to say the team was ready," clearly something about this team was not ready for success and anyone who could think clearly knew it. (I give Cent a pass, JMU has never lost a game/contest of any kind on any date. To continue, the opposition always walks away totally embarrassed when you live in Cent's world)

With that said, I love that jmudukes is passionate and energetic and I don't ever want her to to lose the hope she carries. I surely haven't, I'll remove myself from this board when the dream is gone.

I wasn’t intending to insert myself into your communication with jmudukes. That is as they say between the two of you. Just sharing what I know about her. Good lady who is passionate about all things JMU.

I think that I clearly demonstrated that I trust your judgement. Maybe that didn't come through, but I do.

I've tried to stay out of it but feel like I need to chime in because they were originally directed at me. I can't say I was offended by the comments, but they definitely rubbed me the wrong way. To say "who are you to say..." is a bit heavy handed.
I wasn't going out of my way to attack Rowe or the players. I was referring to the entire program as not being ready. It didn't take detective work to make the determination that perhaps this year wasn't going to be our year. This team played almost everyone close, but had trouble winning... especially against the top 5 in the CAA.
The greatest indication to me was that this team never went on a winning streak. When any team's longest winning streak is TWO games and they were both against the bottom half of the tournament, I think anyone would make the determination that the chances of winning 4 games in a row would be incredibly low.
I wasn't going to say it, but I might as well now: I was right. Perhaps I actually knew what I was talking about and refused to be blinded by the purple shades.
But who am I to state facts on a fan message board. Shame on me.

Actually, you make a very good point about the winning streak and one I did not consider. If two is the longest one all year, then four seems like a tall task.

I think jmudukes was just trying to be positive and get folks excited about the prospect of a tourney run.

Hey thanks BP. I did not take your post any other way. I just wanted to let you know I was not directing my comments at your post.

Jmudukes and her husband travel a long way to see football and basketball games. They are retired now and both love sports especially the purple and gold. Through all the bad years, I always see them at the tourney. Not hard to do so because there is only a small group of us. 04-rock
