Not really meaningless. It would be fun to see the team play 4 quarters for the first time ever.

Taking this team to the NIT would have been an amazing achievement for Tubby--not for us. But I never thought we had a shot

I believe the NCAA is going to try 4 10 minute Q instead of 1st and 2nd half for this years NIT.

I believe the NCAA is going to try 4 10 minute Q instead of 1st and 2nd half for this years NIT.

The 2018 NIT will feature four rules modifications:

​• The three-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for international competition (22 feet 1.75 inches).
​• The free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA.
​• The games will be divided into four 10-minute quarters as opposed to two 20-minute halves. Teams will shoot two free throws beginning with the fifth foul of each quarter.
• The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound instead of the full 30 seconds.

Too bad we won’t be playing. I thought we had a good shot until last night’s debacle.

Looking at the latest NIT bracketology, it's not as far fetched as I thought that Memphis could win 2 games in the AAC tournament and get an NIT bid if other conference tournaments don't feature upsets. Wouldn't that be something?

I see what he's saying. Tulsa is a probably a higher bubble NIT team than Memphis, so if we beat Tulsa in the 2nd round, it's possible.

I see what he's saying. Tulsa is a probably a higher bubble NIT team than Memphis, so if we beat Tulsa in the 2nd round, it's possible.

According to that bracketology, UCF is in as a 7th seed but Memphis is outside looking in. Memphis has a better conference and overall record than UCF.

There is a good chance Memphis makes it in the NIT if they beat Tulsa.

Would the NIT powers that be pass on the Tigers based on the instability of the coaching situation?

UCF is ranked 63 spots ahead of us in KenPom. Our conference record reflects that we only played Houston and Wichita State once and played SMU when they had lost all their players. By every metric we are behind them, including RPI.
