RE: Gonzaga and the MWC have talked?
If the MWC loses San Diego State, Boise State, Nevada, Air Force, Colorado State and New Mexico? They will have troubles finding replacements for FBS football. I think FBS ready schools that can compete are Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Montana, Montana State, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Lamar, Idaho, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Missouri State and West Texas A&M. I am looking at the strength of the schools for both football and basketball. Gonzaga will not join if Eastern Washington is there. Not sure if the Big Sky will join because Montana, Montana State, Idaho and Northern Arizona have been burned by Gonzaga in the past when they were a member. The three Dakota schools, Missouri State and Northern Iowa would jump to join the MWC if Gonzaga and Saint Mary's is there. MWC is still better at RPI than the conferences they are in.

2016 team beat ucla, notre dame, usc, georgetown, & rutgers. 10 years earlier when the committee wasn’t 50% P6 AD’s, Monmouth would’ve been a shoo-in. Probably a 9 seed like Wilmington.

RE: Gonzaga and the MWC have talked?
I'm going to rephrase DavidSt's post, with a slight change.

"If the SEC loses Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Texas A&M? The will have troubles finding replacements for Playoff football. I think ..."

I think this thread has run past it's expiration date. Gonzaga is long gone from the discussion and we get silliness like this. Closing time.

Right you are, 2016, funny how time slips away. Both seasons were terrific. Definitely a decade ago they would've been a shoo-in. They even had national renown with the Bench Mob, so one couldn't even make the argument of anonymity. One of several textbook cases in recent years where the fix is in vis a vis power conferences and at-large bids.

PAC 12 seems to be interested in both San Diego State and Boise State. They are the backup plan in case they still can't get the Texhoma 4.
Colorado State, BYU, Air Force and New Mexico are Big 12 bound to replace when Kansas, West Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma leaves. UNLV, Nevada and Hawaii PAC 12 including New Mexico seems a no brainer for the PAC 12 either.
