Any evidence to support such a broad, sweeping claims?

I'll answer...NOPE.

But, Walmart gave in to the left a long time ago.

Serious question, does a business have the right to discriminate based on age? Whether it is a good idea or not is not the question. If I have a constitutional right to own a gun, and a business arbitrarily decide based on age whether they will sell it to me or not? An earlier post asked if they would be sued for this.

If the legal drinking age is 18, can a bar change the age to 25 just because they want to?

I'm not a lawyer, just curious.

Quote:Palmetto State Armory would like to go on record stating that we support the Second Amendment. While this may seem like an obvious statement, we as a company felt it necessary to make our opinion known to the general public. Palmetto State Armory also strongly supports the First Amendment which enables individuals to voice their opinions, even those in contrast with our own. We believe that a primary purpose of the Second Amendment is actually to protect the First Amendment.

In regards to the actions taken today by the CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods to no longer sell the AR-15 platform, while we do not agree with this decision, we recognize the fact that capitalism gives him the right to make this call. PSA however, does have an issue when misinformation is spread in the very next sentence by referring to the platform as an “assault rifle.” AR stands for Armalite Rifle which pays homage to the company that originally created the platform. To blame the rifle or a high capacity magazine for the actions of an evil man is illogical and is only applied when referring to firearms. Senseless acts of violence are a terrible plague on society that we all recognize we need to try and prevent as a community, but to blame a tool such as a firearm is at very best missing the point of the problem. When a vehicle is used to commit an act of violence we as a society do not blame the car, we do not blame the speed, or the steering wheel, but rather the driver. It is our hopes that we can approach this negativity with humanity and both sides of the argument can come together and have a civil and intellectual conversation that continues to make this amazing county better. We are all in this together, and we all want the same thing. Safety, happiness, and the “American Dream.”

I have bought a few things from PSA, I like their products.

I love dealing with them. I don't have a need for anything right now since I stocked up on most everything after hunting season when it went on sale but I might go by the retail store sometime this weekend and buy something just to show my appreciation.

Here's some more liberal irony/ stupidity.........

the people who want to raise the minimum age to buy a gun to 21 or 25 are the same morons who believe kids can select their own gender at age 6.

We need to find a gay NRA member to plan a wedding around a 2nd Amendment theme and send him to Dick's (snicker) then sue for not catering his wedding.

Good question.

Age discrimination is not legal. Dick's could probably be successfully sued.

RE: Dick's Sporting Goods
I find it hard to believe that Dick's legal department didn't go over these issues prior to their announcement.

Other retailers are joining the fray. Kroger also is stopping sales of guns to people under 21. And outdoor retailer REI says it's halting future orders of some popular brands — including CamelBak water carriers, Giro helmets and Camp Chef stoves — whose parent company also makes ammunition and assault-style rifles.

Do any retailers currently prohibit the sale of cigarettes to anyone under 21? That would be a similar situation. Most states only say you have to be 18 but some states make the minimum age 21. Some national retailers might just try to make things easier on themselves with a nation-wide policy of 21 instead of 18?

RE: Dick's Sporting Goods
LL Bean too has been added to the list but some of these companies are so tiny in the grand spectrum of things (LL Bean sells guns in just one store - at its flagship store in Maine).

In any case, I wouldn't be surprised to see a growing movement to move the age of buying a rifle to 21. It's about in line with other proposals which are mostly PR moves anyway. And it's not going to mean anything in the hunting world either, which is what most people are concerned with when it comes to young people firing guns anyway, right? I mean all the kids out there who are going hunting with their parents are using weapons which they didn't purchase. But no one is stopping them from going out to the deer lease with their dad or uncle or whomever. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dick's Sporting Goods Isn't Doing Well.

People have taken their business elsewhere after Dick's PC play.

Quote:Dick's Sporting Goods had a rougher-than-expected last quarter with chain-wide sales tumbling 4%, according to CNBC, and the retailer is placing the blame, at least partly, on its own decision to "pull back from the hunting business."

Part of the problem is Under Armour, which switched its focus earlier this year from large-scale sports retailers to mid-level department stores. Consumers can now buy Under Armour products at stores like Kohl's, where goods go on sale more often and where consumers can use coupons.

The other half ... well ... Dick's Sporting Goods CEO Ed Stack tried to couch it as best he could, but it's clear that destroying the company's stock of AR-15s and other assorted "assault rifles" had an impact on Dick's bottom line.

Want to get this in before some leftist tries to pull the Target defense

From the linked article:

Quote:It's interesting to note that Dick's is actually bucking the trend. Retail sales increased overall last quarter based on improved consumer confidence.

Suck it Dick's

Oh and to prevent any of the typical leftist "Daily Caller Psaw" BS

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-dicks...SKCN1LE1CQ

Quote:Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS.N) reported a bigger-than-expected drop in quarterly same-store sales on Wednesday and forecast further declines this year, hit by tighter gun controls and a drop in Under Armour sales.

Academy Sports has gotten most of my business. Dick's has excellent fishing stuff too but BPS/Cabela's and other places are filling in just fine.

Rode by the Dick's in Northwest Columbia today and the parking lot was an absolute ghost town.

Ironically I was in the area because my son wanted to go to Palmetto State Armory and Academy looking for a 6.5 Creedmore bolt action. He ended up getting a Savage Axis at Academy, but I did buy a couple boxes of ammo at PSA.
